@techteach_csub Now that semester is coming to a close. This class taught me a lot about technology use in the classroom. Technology is more than just using a computer to research and type papers. Tech can be somehing as simple as an educational games app. #EDTE4200
@ProcellJeanine@techteach_csub I agree that technology has drastically changed how we function in this world. I wrote a paper about how Othello would change if it were written during the digital age. I believe researching and writing this paper taught me about the need for lessons in digital citizenship.
@techteach_csub Show the classroom how large their digital footprint truly is by charting how many people actually see one persons post on the internet. Once the students have a visual picture then you can teach them about digital citizenship. #edte4200tc12
@ProcellJeanine@techteach_csub Jeanine, I agree that Khan Academy can be applied to other lessons besides math. I was going through all the different lessons available and found lessons on internet safety, which I thought is really useful for all students.
@techteach_csub I feel some of the most useful videos in Khan Academy are the videos from the internet safety lessons. With many of our students utilizing the internet daily these are good reminders on how to safely navigate the internet without giving away to much personal info. #EDTE4200tc11
@teacherkenyanp @techteach_csub I really liked google forms too! I was thinking the same thing about using it to do the formal and informal assessments. One of the things that I really liked is you can build the grading criteria into the form especially if you are doing a multiple choice style assessment.
@techteach_csub I really like google forms. It is a great way to create assignments and tests, that will be able to grade themselves since you can build the grading criteria into your form! #EDTE4200tc10
@emilya8910 Emily I felt the same way about Item 55, there were so many coding "games" in the student module that I could easily learn how to program a robot in an hour because it isn't labeled as programing, it is presented as a fun game!
@techteach_csub I really enjoyed the Hour of Code Module. The programing the AI for ocean clean up could easily be worked into a lesson on Earth Day. Like ask the students if they had a robot that could clean the ocean how would they make sure it got rid of only the trash? #EDTE4200tc9
@alv47380102@techteach_csub I liked the YouTube playlist too, because you could publish your class lessons on YouTube then create a playlist of lesson topics that your students could then access later.
@techteach_csub For me my favorites were items 30 & 32. I felt both of these were equally important since they were both Google forms and would help me facilitate a technology based learning environment. #EDTE4200tc8
@techteach_csub I think I would utilize InstaGrok, this site allows students to interactively research and organize the materials they might need to complete a project. I think it would be a very useful tool in the classroom. #EDTE4200tc7
@KiiingDLo@techteach_csub It's interesting you mention audio books. LA County Libraries have what are called VOX books which are books with an audio reader attached. Might be worth considering for ELL students especially if they can be printed in English and read in native language
@TaamiloMalia@techteach_csub When I initially opened Rubristar I was kind of intimidated by it so I went with Teach-nology. However, once I got into Rubristar I can see why you like it. I really like that it has rubrics for Art classes, I might use it when I build my lesson plan for a job I'm applying to.
@techteach_csub I plan to use TeAch-nology to create a rubric. I feel like Rubistar's home page was just too confusing. I plan to use the math rubric generator since currently I'm working toward a certification as a middle school math teacher. #EDTE4200tc6
@Joooo_m17@techteach_csub Google slides is pretty easy to use especially if you have Power Point experience. One thing I just learned is if you build a power point slide show then save it in google drive, google will automatically convert your Power Point to slides.
@techteach_csub Just because it's in my comfort zone I would use either Power Point or Google slides. I would willingly use other presentation programs like Prezi, once I have a chance to learn the program. #EDTE4200tc5
@Joooo_m17@techteach_csub For me it was a toss up between google classroom and Edmodo. I went with Edmodo because it seemed to have a few more features than google classroom did, like the ability to message the parents without having to email them. Which helps in effectively managing the classroom
@techteach_csub After comparing Google Classroom and Edmodo, I think I will use Edmodo. I would use Edmodo in the classroom for knowledge checks/formative assessments, posting homework assignments, sharing study materials and communicating with parents. #EDTE4200tc4
@futbol__fanatic@techteach_csub Look at Formative it lets you play out so many different ways to assess your students learning and it was recommended for as a good tool for math teachers
