@planbparaguay My experience was you know right away if they don't want to open an account. Keep looking until you find the banker who wants to bring in customers. They are there (but in the minority.)
@LSREnergy Content to take the other side on this bet and with producers far away from the Gulf. Largest position PBR, followed by EC, SSL, GPRK, BWL, CVE, SU, YPF, TAL. Would love to be wrong, but this ends when Iran says it ends.
@LVision_Trading I appreciate you put much effort into tracking oil flows in the ME, but I ponder the relevance outside of the short term. It is clear Iran controls the strait, and what moves out is either approved or tolerated. It is also clear SA is going to suffer grevious damage from Yemen.
You tolerate heat, ugliness in places, poor infrastructure, bureaucracy, corruption, inequality and a society that can feel decades behind developed countries.
...In exchange, you get something increasingly difficult to find elsewhere... Room to breathe... and pure Freedom.
Less interference. More freedom to build your own life. Stronger family culture. Lower costs. Space. Energy. Food. Water in abundance.
A country capable of functioning without needing every aspect of life engineered from the top down. Amazing for independant people.
Paraguay’s isolation, dictatorship and slower development left it almost frozen in time. While much of the world rapidly changed, Paraguay lagged behind and, perhaps unintentionally, preserved many of the things people are now coming here to find.
The dollar has fallen about 21% against the guaraní in a year and half the nomads in this city are quietly recalculating their entire life
7,700 guaraníes to the dollar a year ago...
About 5,900 now
Nobody raised prices; our money just shrank. Although from the inside those are indistinguishable
I include myself here btw. Just went to O Gaucho yesterday and spent basically $100 for two people. Crazy stuff
But there's a real lesson under the joke, other than us nomads being poor:
If you earn in one currency and live in another, you're making a bet whether you think of it that way or not
Most nomads have never once described it to themselves like that. They think they found a clever place to live. What they actually did was take a leveraged position on the dollar and call it a lifestyle
It works beautifully in the years the dollar is strong. Like when you could get a steak in Argentina for $5
Then a year like this one arrives and everyone discovers things were not as rosy as they seemed
The people who are fine right now are the ones with income in more than one currency, or assets here, or costs that aren't 100% exposed to one exchange rate
Or those who, put simply, just make more money
That's the boring, unsexy version of diversification and nobody makes a YouTube video about it
Anyway... I should start earning in guaraníes I guess!
@NuggetCapital With respect, its the wrong read. Its the view of the West, where war is an abstract concept that happens on TV and making money takes precident. These guys lived it hard against Iraq. The conflict doesn't end until Iran says so, and it will take the US a long time to accept it.
🇵🇾 The real value of Paraguay is not low cost at all. It’s the high freedom.
This is what trumps all my other options & keeps me here...
Buen provecho🥩👏🏻
@JStamos6@sarobertson_ Coming from Canada, I totally believe this. Because they probably sat in a chair for 72 hours before the emergency room staff got around to processing them.
@Navsteva@Hal_Turner_Show Respectfully, that's not how it works. Just look at pump to surface in Western Canadian heavy oil. You can be pulling 30% sand cuts continuously. The sand and everything else just settles out. More intensive and will take longer, but the same here if desired.
@TennesseeFrisk@DonMiami3@calvinfroedge Why are oil bulls so down? The short term of anything almost never is logical. I've positioned in oil for a few years now, and it looks great from where things were in January. Huge oil draws, Russian exports down, Middle East still impeded, draining of US shale sped up.
@__Injaneb96 @_ZachFoster ... Khamenei's grandchild was killed in the same attack you state you celebrate who definitely would qualify as an innocent child. Kind of keep stepping on the rake here.
@Selfdestrukted @KlepperCasey@HormuzLetter It is somewhat terrifying isn't it, that so many can believe such incredible garbage without the slightest hesitation. It would basically mean 50 VLCC's wandered through in an afternoon.
