@jnew_3@drpriddy I like how you mentioned that it is important that the student perceives the result to be a good thing. It's important for us to take their point of view into account because if they don't see it as a positive, it will not be an effective reward. #TWU5123Learn@drpriddy
It's a common misconception that positive reinforcement is simply rewarding good behavior. There's also potential for accidental reinforcement of bad behavior- if the reinforcement is an added stimulus, it is still considered positive reinforcement. #TWU5123Learn@drpriddy
@AlexiaLongoria1@drpriddy I thought that part was really important too! Even though some don't agree with teaching methods that focus entirely on learning styles, appreciating your students' differences and trying instructional methods that meet their needs is only going to make you more effective.
It's really important for teachers to understand learning differences so they can meet the needs of each and every one of their students effectively. I highly recommend this video to better understand students with ADHD.

@alynhancock@drpriddy Comparison is a huge issue that affects so many people today, even adults. I agree that middle school is such an important time for teachers to affirm their students' sense of worth and help them avoid getting stuck in the comparison game.
"To achieve industry, students need praise and confidence boosts for good, quality work."
This is a sweet, motivational video about how to teach to encourage industry.

@lishaannff@drpriddy I think that's a great encapsulation of one of the things that their theories had in common. It actually reminds me of Piaget's quote that education should "form not furnish" the minds of students. @lishaannff@drpriddy#TWU5123Learn
We're lucky to have Piaget's insight about how children think. We still design programs using his ideas. But don't forget- the source of his insight was simply listening to children. If we listen to our students, we can gain insight just like Piaget did. #TWU5123Learn@drpriddy
