IBD-associated arthritis isn’t one disease - it’s a spectrum.
From Type 1 and Type 2 peripheral arthritis to axial SpA, enthesitis, and dactylitis, each pattern behaves differently and demands a different approach.
A quick visual to keep the distinctions clear in practice.

In a UK study of 5.16M pregnancies (2000–2021), autoimmune disease in pregnancy rose from 3.5% to 4.7%. IBD was the 2nd most prevalent autoimmune condition after psoriasis.
Autoimmune risk was higher in ex-smokers, multiparas, and women with mental or metabolic comorbidities.
Much remains to be understood about how pregnancy affects the immune state of both mother and baby.
