Bohdan and his team deliver free meals to hundreds of residents across Poltava, Ukraine, daily. Many of their 80 employees are themselves displaced people who first arrived in Poltava during the war. Bohdan’s business is also a key WCK emergency partner, ready to mobilize hot meals following missile strikes or other urgent events.

Before the war, Bohdan’s business focused entirely on frozen goods. He had never prepared hot meals, never worked in food service, and certainly never imagined he would one day be serving thousands of hot meals a day to neighbors displaced by war.

That changed in February 2022. As displaced families began arriving in Poltava, Bohdan posted a simple message on social media:

“We know how to cook. If anyone needs help, we’re ready.”

He started preparing hot meals. Soon, he had to sell his freezers and a delivery vehicle to pay for ingredients, donate his supplies, and do everything possible to help those who had lost their communities.

That’s when he heard about World Central Kitchen.

“I didn’t believe an organization could exist that would help us transparently and honestly... [but] we shook hands, and everything changed.”

With WCK’s support, Bohdan expanded his cooking operations to multiple kitchens, developed a delivery system, and scaled up.

The result is remarkable: 427,000+ meals served together with WCK since 2022.

Today, his team runs five dining spaces across the city. They offer hot meals, fresh baked goods, pizza, catering services, and delivery, all grounded in national culture through food.

"The energy, the speed, the focus—we felt it, and we built that spirit into everything we do now. It inspired a whole new way of thinking. It showed us what was possible," he said.

FYI: To artists and musicians using GarageBand mobile, the audio sample rate and bit rate has an issue of formatting an uncompressed 44.1 kHz 16 bit file and uploading for standard market distribution. I found a fix. Use Logic Pro. It will open your GarageBand projects by making

a copy and converting the project so you may open it in Logic Pro mobile. There is a subscription fee monthly, but it’s worth it until GarageBand mobile is fixed. Logic Pro is amazing to use. In short just export the project and store the file as you usually would. Then proceed…

FYI: Artists using the current GarageBand mobile version. Apple GarageBand support confirmed the format issue for required 44.1 kHZ 16 bit wave format. Audio files are being increased to 48 kHz. This will prevent uploading 44.1 audio to certain distributors for market services.

My studio uses GarageBand for Mac and Logic Pro. Those systems work just fine. It was a GarageBand mobile issue only. I hope this may help anyone who may be experiencing the same problem. Apple is looking into fixing the mobile audio format issue within GarageBand.
