@chaddyxc @CuriousQrio @PhillyBoiWonder @netflix They padded the runtime, mainly by spending 20% of every episode's start on recaps / repeating scenes. The pacing itself was totally fine.
I can tell that without asking toei, because One Piece is the most successful anime of all time, and it was already insanely popular in 2000.

It’s a deliberate time dilation, it’s not meant to play out in real time.
Difference between story time and plot time.
