@AndrewF021 @PeggyYoungMcco1@NebraskaDems No egos…officers and SCC will decide path forward at our meeting Saturday. None of us want Fischer for 6 years. We are processing a change in the plan that we did not think was in the cards. But it’s here so we will figure out next steps.
#Omaha abortion rights advocates, women, LGBTQ Nebraskans and allies fought State Sen. Mike McDonnell’s bid for a seat on @votedcdems central committee. They hope he reconsiders co-sponsoring #abortion restrictions and anti-trans legislation after a 17-3 loss. McDonnell said he will not budge.

@JustinTWayne@toottootchoo@SenMcKinneyLD11 I would support legislation that works to dismantle systemic racism. Funneling money over to private school that discriminate legally is not that. Using racism in public schools as an excuse to support discrimination in private schools is problematic.
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 Care to share how you’re working on special education? If that’s true, that’s great, but it still doesn’t make voting to fund entities that discriminate against lgbtq and disabled students ok.
@HastingsDem@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 It is money that will be funneled away from the state and cut into welfare services and education. Either way, you’re supporting tax breaks for entities that discriminate against my family in numerous ways.
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 You’ve answered zero questions. You’ve expressed zero empathy for my sons situation. You’re just a politician looking out for himself and that’s unfortunate because this area deserves better
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 Put words in my mouth if you want, but you’re supporting legislation that discriminates against my family and you’re ignoring pleas from your constituents to help our disabled children. You’ve lost my respect and I use to hold a lot for you
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 How does encouraging money for private schools that discriminate help kids being discriminated against in public schools? Introduce a bill that addresses these prob problems. Don’t support more bigotry.
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 Adopt Hunts amendments or get your name off a bill that discriminates against lgbtq folks and disabled kids. Or at least stop being to dishonest about what this does for kids like mine.
@MarrWilliams @amkalkowski @SenMcKinneyLD11 Bottom line they’re defending bigotry and you’re supporting it. Public schools being racist doesn’t make condoning it in private schools ok. Guess I know who my allies are and aren’t with this bill.
@JustinTWayne@SenMcKinneyLD11 Are you willing to ensure these funds won’t go to organizations that are discriminatory of LGBTQ people? And will you ensure that schools advantaging from this scholarship are required to serve children with IEPs?
@toottootchoo@SenMcKinneyLD11 @SchoolChoiceNE I live in North Omaha. We are on free and reduced lunches. My son is disabled. McKinney knows me. We’ve supported each other. This bill won’t help.
@MarrWilliams @amkalkowski @SenMcKinneyLD11 I’m not a Senator. I’d be happy to support it and contribute to it. I’d love to share my experiences in these schools and create a positive environment for my disabled son. But instead the people who can introduce legislation want to discriminate further.
@MarrWilliams@MrAnglen@SenMcKinneyLD11 Yep, and they were all blocked by the many of the senators supporting this bill. PPB had hers blocked at the end just as a political play because she decided to run for cd1. Seems odd to scream at the side that does support those laws while defending discrimination.
