There is much to be said, in due course, about this betrayal.
For now, one thing stands out. There is not a single mention of LGBTQIA people in this statement.
This was supposed to be about us, with us, for us.
It is none of those things.

Prayers ascending for our new Archbishop - from what I have seen, she has great reserves of patience, forbearance and grace - she will need all these and more in this role. May her ministry be a blessing for the whole Church. #archbishopofcanterbury
BREAKING: The next Archbishop of Canterbury is to be the Rt Revd Sarah Mullally, the Bishop of London since 2018, Downing Street announced on Friday. She is to be the first woman to hold the post

Some excellent news from the corner of the Anglican Communion that I call home - the last province in the British Isles to ordain women, yet the first to have a female Archbishop - prayers for Cherry Vann and her ministry in Wales.
The Bishop of Monmouth, the Rt Revd Cherry Vann, is the new #ArchbishopofWales
She was elected on Wednesday, securing a two-thirds majority in the Electoral College. This makes her the first woman Primate in an Anglican Church in the UK

Please pray for the chaplaincies in
Archdeaconry of Switzerland: Archdeacon: Peter Hooper.
Basel: For this chaplaincy and their sense of being sent into their world.
Berne: Give thanks for our new Teens Group, pray for the group to grow in faith and friendship with one another.
When Jo Cox and Sir David Amess were murdered, lots of politicians and commentators admitted the need to dial down the political rhetoric and take some of the heat out of the conversation. Worth bearing in mind when you hear the endless claims of “betrayal”, “surrender” and “treason” today.
@carlfhoward@imageplotter Property rich, cash poor & maintaining more grade 1&2 listed bldgs than anyone else in England. We can’t sell off St Paul’s to an off-shore hedge fund to pay for essential upkeep. Alternatives are: people donate VERY generously; pay entry fee; or taxpayer support.
@imageplotter However, please contact your MP about this - help them understand that our cathedrals are national monuments and that taxpayers should contribute to their upkeep in return for free entry. A change in govt policy is what is needed to secure free access.
@imageplotter Apols if I missed the point! I wish cathedrals didn’t have to charge - and many in England don’t - but at end of the day, they need to pay for the running and upkeep of these exceptional (and expensive) buildings. Cologne Cathedral receives state-funding, our cathedrals don’t.
"It's hypocrisy to call yourself a Christian and chase away a refugee or someone seeking help, someone who is hungry or thirsty, toss out someone who is in need.
If I say I am Christian, but do these things, I'm a hypocrite."
- Pope Francis
As the sun rises over the Rhine valley, our vigil is ended - Christ is Risen, alleluia! Happy Easter from the Anglican Church in Basel! @DioceseinEurope
A gruesome image titled "An Ordinary Day in Europe." Heavy air traffic over Western Europe and countless missiles, drones, and "shahids" over Ukraine...
This is the price for the "quiet life in the European Union," which Ukrainians pay every day, making their own sacrifices.

Grateful for the Statement from The Abp of York following the deeply shocking attack on Al Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza-a desperately tragic beginning to Holy Week-joining the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem in solidarity and prayer @AnglicanWorld https://t.co/lQXnpAZRl8
Palm Sunday. As I worshipped with Ukrainian friends here in Kyiv, Russia launched ballistic missiles at the centre of Sumy, bringing horror, death and destruction on this holy day. This Easter Russia chooses not to pursue peace, but to wage its vicious war against its neighbour.
@HseofSurvivors Terrible news - prayers for his wife and family. The Diocese in Europe and the wider church is the richer for his years of service, and the poorer for his loss.
