👀 Watch a preview of the open consultation on the #SaltmarshCode, which will officially start next Monday 21 October.
Here @annette_burden provides the background to the Saltmarsh Code and the consultation 🧵1/
🚨Years of over-exploitation and pollution have left UK coastal habitats degraded and fragmented, reducing their ability to support wildlife and healthy, resilient seas.
Blue Marine and partners have published a new report showcasing the ecosystem services our precious marine habitats provide and how the UK Government can protect and restore them to bring nature back to our coastal areas.

UKCEH is installing the first network of greenhouse gas monitoring stations on saltmarshes around the UK coast, with 2 now in place on the Ribble Estuary.
It will provide data on how much GHG could be removed from the atmosphere by UK saltmarshes.
