I think my biggest worry with the next Assassin's Creed remakes is character assassination.
Black Flag Resynced was a great game, but it genuinely felt like modern Ubisoft tried their hardest to degrade the character of Edward Kenway with a lot of the new written content. He had a lot of out of character moments that were only masked by how brilliant the original story was. If Altaïr or Ezio get the remake treatment, any unnecessary changes to their characters with new written content will be much harder to ignore.
If (when, lets be honest) there are more AC remakes. DO NOT ADD NEW STORY CONTENT. I dread the day we have to have an AC1-3 remake with this writing quality. Just remake and improve the gameplay and visuals and cutscenes with all the same script and we're good.
I just finished #AssassinsCreedBlackFlagResynced and I overall very much enjoyed it. All the gameplay additions are improvements imo and the visuals are absolutely stunning. Everything from the original game is remade pretty faithfully so all that is good.
The new "A World Without Gold" mission is one of the worst in any modern AC game, which is saying something because some of them are BAD nowadays. The placement of it in the story is completely baffling and it flanderizes every character to hell.
At this point I'm convinced Darby McDevitt is the only writer at Ubisoft that knows how to write because god DAMN these new missions are written as if the writers has never heard anyone speak before. Rest of the remake is pretty damn good though 🤷
It's hilarious playing AC Black Flag Resynced and watching the writing quality take a MASSIVE nosedive any time literally anything was added. Every new quest, every new voice line, everything except for ONE added scene that's like 30 seconds long that's a nice addition.
Zach Cregger says Austin Abrams nearly died during a stunt for 'Resident Evil' 🧟♂️
• He wanted to avoid VFX for a scene involving zombies exploding after jumping from buildings
• They used cranes with 150 lb 'body-sized blood bags' of liquid, one was accidentally released too early and came inches from hitting Abrams
• The take was used in the film
• Tons of rehearsal had been done in preparation
“If he had been one step to the right, it would've killed him ... [The shot is] in the movie ... so it’s fucking worth it ... I was pretty stunned"

I love Black Flag Resynced. It's one of my favourite games this year. But please don't be fooled by thinking they are back. It's a remake of a beloved old game from the old Ubisoft. Most of the new content in the game shows you the current quality standards, but because the existing material is so strong, it's easy for people to overlook it. They'll only be back once they deliver new high quality games. Keyword: "NEW".
Also we can't forget how they treated the Barcelona studio. Worked on the underwater sections of the game and got laid off as a reward.
Disney is laying off several hundred people across the entire company.
The majority of the layoffs on the studios side is at Pixar.
