Alon, Tal and Oren Alexander – three brothers who once lived at the height of wealth and society in New York and Miami – were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sex trafficking and other crimes. https://t.co/W6sWXQUPt9
@CNN Should have been longer but glad the victims have justice. The arrogance and their wealth made them feel untouchable and now they will spend a huge chunk of their lives behind bars.
@willtstrauss@IhabHassane Who set up Japan’s legal system is not relevant to this conversation. This is about an apartheid system.
What specifically are you calling about Germany’s occupation?
@willtstrauss@IhabHassane How the Japanese legal system was reformed is a separate question from which law the Japanese were subject to. The Japanese people were governed by Japanese law, applied by Japanese courts. US domestic law never applied to them.
Your original claim was about the second point.
@willtstrauss@IhabHassane Japanese people were governed by Japanese statutes, police and courts, applied through the Japanese government. SCAP directives sat on top of that. They were not subject to American law.
Please get the basic facts right.
@willtstrauss@IhabHassane We’re talking about the West Bank not East Jerusalem.
Military occupation does not mean Arabs are governed by a different regime when Jewish settlers are governed by a civil regime especially when Area C is not Israeli territory.
This is the definition of apartheid.
@willtstrauss@IhabHassane You don’t seem to grasp a simple concept. A military occupation does not equal apartheid.
Two different systems for people based on ethnicity is apartheid.
The West Bank is under military occupation and has an apartheid system.
