Today is European Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Awareness Day – an opportunity to raise awareness of the genetic disease and recognize the patients affected by it. Alpha-1 is most often seen in people of European ancestry, but proper diagnosis is a challenge around the globe.
