@tom_nuttall I used to appreciate a high turnout in the past as voting is a democratic exercise. My impression from elections in the past few years is that AfD is better in mobilising non- voters. Thus I don’t know if this is a good sigh
@AnthonyGlees And the 90 days rule even does not affect tourists going on a 14 days holidays three times a year. Which is already a lot. It may affect people with second homes. With Brexit the UK gave up freedom of movement. They should just come to terms with it.
@giulio_mattioli@MarcoSm43819365 I don’t get this auf‘s Auto angewiesen sein because it’s always a conscious decision where you live. With the housing crisis though getting harder to argue against it because it’s definitely harder for people to find a place. These 2 issues must be addressed together.
@dcsandbrook@bookclubpodhq@PhilipPullman The fact that I listened to the episode and found it really captivating although I’m not into fantastic literature and probably won’t read this book speaks for the quality of this podcast and the two hosts.
@giulio_mattioli It might be anecdotal but to me people seem to drive more at the moment ( also on Sundays and not only strike days) with running motors even in traffic jams. Fuel can’t be that expensive then.
@giulio_mattioli I heard in the radio that it was Germany which didn’t want the jobs too well paid in comparison to the German salary levels ( can’t remember the reason) and that’s why it’s not so attractive for Germans to apply
@giulio_mattioli I’m always astonished how hard it is to travel by public transport from one town to another around London in a reasonable time. Most of the time travelling via London is the best option although still time consuming and expensive. And I don’t mean a bus every 10 minutes.
@tom_nuttall I suppose most of the Denglish we come up with must be rather bizarre for native speakers. Although it’s not even Denglish, because it’s not a German structure or idiom mixed with fancy English. Just a clunky English wordplay
@arthistorynews@RoryStewartUK@danliterary I suppose manual crafts like plumbers, roofers, carpenters etc. or nursing and care jobs which you can’t replace with AI will see a golden age of revival. They will be highly paid and remaining white collar jobs far less. All parents will urge their children to go into crafts.
@tom_nuttall I’m sure you can find the right equivalent in news coverage about Trump sending the national guard into cities governed by Democrats. His argument, as far as I know is also related to the Stadtbild in these cities. Although I can’t remember how it is framed.
