A 1st for the @NWU_WRG parasite team and most probably for all of you out there! A live shark trypanosome making its way amongst the huge shark erythrocytes. What an awesome find by our MSc @Chandrale29 who study trypanosomes from southern African fishes. @TruterMarliese
Copepod parasites comes in all shapes and sizes, here a very cool lernaeopodid from the gills of a Cape seabream collected during this weeks @NWU_WRG south coast sampling expedition. Its new and needs a name!!! Any suggestions??? @anja_erasmus20@TruterMarliese@Anja_Vermaak

No @NWU_WRG Marine Parasite expedition is complete without a fish parasitic isopod! Sodwana did not disappoint and 2day we found an old friend, Mothocya affinis, we described in 2015 from the tropical halfbeak, also caught here in Sodwana. @Bernd_AquatEcol @KerryAHadfield
When #Fishing4Science a 2 hour break in the weather is enough to get data! We caught 14 fish (4 species), more than enough to keep the @NWU_WRG parasite team busy dissecting and finding heaps of new and exciting parasites for the rest of Day 3 of our Sodwana Marine Parasite trip.
