A visit to Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary today was a reminder that Delhi is not just a city of roads, building and business... it is also home to vibrant ecosystems, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking natural landscapes.

They cross skies, oceans, and borders, guided by instinct and incredible resilience.
On World Migratory Bird Day, let’s come together to safeguard their remarkable journeys.
From wetlands to vital flyways, every action counts. Whether it’s protecting habitats, reducing pollution, or supporting conservation efforts.
Together, we can ensure these feathered travelers continue to soar free for generations to come.
Nearly every wild gharial on earth lives in one river system. That river is Chambal, a tributary of Ma Ganga.
Approximately 681 adult gharials remain globally. Over 80% of them are in India. Which means every gharial sighting in the Chambal is a species clinging on, and a conservation story worth telling.
How Namami Gange is bringing them back:
→ SMART Lab at National Chambal Sanctuary
→ Conservation breeding at Kukrail (UP) & Deori (MP) → Ecological flow maintenance across the Chambal basin
→ Partnership with state forest departments
Because protecting them in India is protecting them everywhere. #Gharial #NamamiGange #Biodiversity #Wildlife #IndiaConservation

At the #WorldWetlandsDay programme held in Delhi, I had the opportunity to felicitate the winners of the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards and interact with our dedicated Wetland Mitras, the true guardians of nature. It was encouraging to see more than three lakh children from across the country participate in the painting and slogan-writing competitions organised by the @moefcc. The event concluded with everyone taking a pledge to protect the environment.
Aligned with this year’s theme- ‘Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage’, I had the opportunity to engage with children and highlight the ecological and cultural importance of wetlands. During the programme, certificates were presented to representatives from five states- Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, in recognition of their five newly designated Ramsar sites. A booklet documenting India’s Ramsar sites was also released on the occasion.
