Here’s what happened, folks.

Last summer, Republicans in Congress including four Kentucky House members and one Kentucky senator voted to cut investment in next generation EV technology. That decision threw the auto industry into chaos.

When Washington suddenly changes the rules, companies are forced to change plans. Ford didn’t make this move because Kentucky workers failed. They made it because federal policy shifted.

The result is 1,600 Kentucky jobs lost. That’s mortgages, car payments, and families left in limbo a week before Christmas.

This is Washington chaos, and Kentucky workers are paying the price.

I'm voting no. In the richest country in the world, families shouldn’t have to choose between putting food on the table and their health care. But that’s exactly what Donald Trump has done to Americans with this shutdown.

There should’ve never been a shutdown in the first place, and I worked to find a solution with Republicans and this administration. But Donald Trump has proven he doesn’t care about rising costs, skyrocketing health care premiums, or working families struggling to put food on the table. He has spent more time working on his ballroom than working to open the government. He sued to block food assistance for hungry families.

I’ve spent the last month hearing from Arizonans worried they can’t afford health care and families who were going broke and hungry because the government was shut down. That’s who I’m fighting for. But Donald Trump rejected a straightforward compromise that would have best served all Americans by reopening the government and keeping health care from becoming unaffordable and out of reach for millions, including thousands of Arizonans. If he’s ready to get serious on a solution to keep health care premiums from spiking, I'm ready to work, but everything he’s done suggests he just doesn’t care.

UnitedHealthcare has dropped Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from its network, leaving 20,000 cancer patients (including me) without access to our doctors and life-saving treatment starting July 1.

Cancer patients cannot simply “go elsewhere.” Finding new specialists takes time many of us don’t have. This reckless decision will overload other hospitals, delay care, and endanger lives.

This father went to his citizenship hearing expecting a handshake.

Instead, ICE shackled him, threw him into a van, and tore him away from his pregnant wife and four children—without even letting him say goodbye.

Kasper Eriksen arrived in Mississippi from Denmark in 2013, fully documented and determined to build a life here.

He started a family, became part of his community, and followed every rule. He was never accused, let alone convicted, of any crime.

But as best we understand, he's now imprisoned because of a single clerical mistake made years ago. In 2015, Kasper and his wife, Savannah, missed filing one form, among the hundreds required on the complicated path to citizenship.

Savannah had just suffered a stillbirth, losing their first child. In the painful days that followed, paperwork deadlines understandably slipped past unnoticed.

Now, over a month after his arrest, Kasper remains locked in a detention facility notorious for cruelty, neglect, and abuse.

Savannah—eight months pregnant, at high risk, and terrified—is desperately pleading for her husband's return.

She and their children have no idea when or if they'll ever see him again, and she doesn't know if he'll be present for her child's birth.

Every day brings another nightmare under the Trump administration.

The actions of our government are evil. There's simply no other way to describe it.

May God have mercy on us all for allowing this to happen.
