An island nation like Scotland must have a thriving commercial shipbuilding industry.
The SNP gave away a £150 million contract for 7 small ferries to Remontowa in Poland last year, and is now stalling on directly awarding a 4 vessel contract to Ferguson Marine first announced four months ago, putting hundreds of shipbuilding jobs at risk as the shipyard runs out of work soon.
For a nationalist party, they have a poor understanding of the national interest.
Today, Andy Burnham becomes Prime Minister.
It’s time to unite to face down the politics of hate, make life better for working people, and bring hope back.

Congratulations to Andy Burnham on becoming Leader of the UK Labour Party.
Andy will bring experience, energy and fresh ideas to the job - and a determination to win back the trust of working people, empower communities across the UK and defeat the poison of Reform.
I look forward to working with him to change our country for the better.
Standing up for Glasgow’s children should never come with the threat of financial ruin.
The SNP abandoned plans to cut 450 teachers after a huge public campaign.
Now they’re pursuing those same campaigners through the courts.
They should think again and stop these proceedings.
More than 3 in 4 women in Scotland attended breast screening between 2020 and 2023, but uptake falls to just 64.2% in our most deprived communities.
These inequalities cost lives. Screening must be accessible, innovative and available in local communities.

It was great to attend the Bigger Partick Picnic in Mansfield Park.
The weather gave us sunshine & showers, but the community spirit remained high throughout!
Along with Cllr @_JamesAdams_ it was lovely to catch up with the local groups, volunteers & residents enjoying the day.
Attacks on emergency workers are despicable. Our police, NHS staff and firefighters deserve our respect and support. The APPG on Emergency Care, which I chair, is launching an inquiry into abuse and violence suffered by staff in emergency departments.
📢Keeping our country safe is the first duty of any Government.
That's why Labour is investing an extra £15 billion in our Armed Forces and increasing defence spending to nearly £80 billion by 2029.
Strengthening our security. Supporting skilled jobs.
Securing Britain's future.
The Scottish Government missed their target of building 8,000 new affordable homes, and the number of completed houses is at its lowest level since 2012.
The SNP must do more to end this housing emergency.

Pleased to see the planning application to turn Alexandra Court Care Home into temporary accommodation has been refused.
This is a positive result and one that reflects the clear views of our local community.
Next, the focus must be on bringing Alexandra Court back into use as a care home, providing services the area desperately needs.
This #ArmedForcesWeek we thank all who serve, past & present, and their families.
Tomorrow (23 June) between 11am & 4pm, there’s an opportunity for community together in Netherton Community Centre to show support for our Armed Forces.
Thank you for your service, today & always.
I’m relieved to see this outcome. I have campaigned on this since the significant case of Bryson which exposed the scandal of women prisoners forced to accept this SPS policy. These women are legends and they never give up.
We are missing Jo Cox for the contribution she would have made to British public life over the past ten years, but her words still resonate. There is so much we can do to bring communities together and to support each other as we remember the impact of Jo's life.
Mothers waiting 190 hours to be induced and 406 deaths in maternity and neonatal services at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
We need action now.
