🐴 Today The King visited the iconic Douglas Bay Horse Tramway, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. His Majesty took a ride on the oldest horse-drawn passenger tramway still operating during a day of engagements on the Isle of Man.

❓Did you know that The King goes by the title ‘Lord of Mann’ when he’s on the Isle of Man? The ancient title is held by him as the island’s Head of State.

The horses in The Royal Mews have been practicing and preparing for today’s State Opening of Parliament. 🐴

It is a tradition for The King and Queen travel to the Palace of Westminster in a State Coach, escorted by the Household Cavalry. The Imperial State Crown and Regalia travels in front of The King in a carriage of its own.

Runnymede, Echo, Maple, Newark and Knightsbridge are just some of the horses taking part today. Cared for by The Royal Mews, they can usually be found enjoying the grounds of Windsor!

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden began his visit to Ukraine by honoring our fallen warriors together with me. We are deeply grateful for this gesture of respect.

The memory of each and every one of them is very important to us – the defenders of Ukraine who fought against Russian aggression. They fought not only for our country, but also for the protection of all of Europe, so that Russian madness and killing would not spread further.
