Microplastics and Cancer: What Science Knows & What It Doesn't | Dr. Lorne J. Hofseth I ALLATRA GRC
Why are colorectal cancer rates rising among younger adults? Could chronic inflammation, modern lifestyle, diet, environmental exposures, and emerging contaminants such as micro- and nanoplastics be contributing factors? What does current science actually know and what remains uncertain?
In this episode of the ALLATRA GRC Podcast, Dr. Karolína Hronová, Clinical Pharmacologist, Environmental Health Researcher at the ALLATRA GRC and Dr. Jeffrey Long, Radiation Oncologist and Expert in Human Health Impacts of Environmental Factors have a conversation with Dr. Lorne J. Hofseth, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and Director of the Center for Colon Cancer Research, who shares insights from decades of research on chronic inflammation, colorectal cancer, environmental risk factors, and cancer prevention. His research focuses on understanding how chronic inflammation, diet, the gut microbiome, DNA damage, and environmental exposures interact to influence cancer development and human health.
The conversation explores the global rise of early-onset colorectal cancer, the biological mechanisms linking chronic inflammation to cancer development, and the growing scientific interest in the role of the exposome, the cumulative environmental and lifestyle factors that influence human health throughout life. Dr. Hofseth also discusses the current evidence on micro- and nanoplastics, emphasizing what research has demonstrated so far, where important uncertainties remain, and which questions future studies must answer.

How do we stay resilient against online manipulation and emotional traps?
In this ALLATRA Podcast episode, national security veteran Sean @Wiswesser shares practical insights on digital awareness, critical thinking, and psychological safety.
How do you protect your mind online?
What Is ALLATRA?
ALLATRA is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to research, public awareness and education on global challenges that affect people, communities and the planet.
Our work focuses on three interconnected areas:
• climate and geodynamic risks;
• environmental challenges, including microplastics and nanoplastics;
• the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms.
We bring together research, communication and international dialogue to help complex global issues become better understood and more widely discussed.

Listening to Dr. Sylvia Earle speak, you can feel not only her knowledge but also how much love and concern she has for our planet. There was something emotional about hearing someone who has witnessed these changes with her own eyes talk about what we are losing.
What hit me most is the realization that the ocean is not “somewhere far away.” It affects all of us, the air we breathe, climate, food, and ultimately our future. The discussion about marine life loss, microplastics, industrial fishing, and deep-sea mining honestly left me both worried and inspired at the same time.
Thank you for such a great discussion 💐🥰
Dr. Sylvia Earle & Liz Taylor share insights on ocean care, from deep-sea discovery to microplastics in our waters. They invite us to move from extraction to protection, and indifference to responsibility. How can we turn science into public awareness and shared action?
️ What is really hiding behind the mask of a “cult fighter”? Independent journalists have dug into the biography of Alexander Dvorkin — Russia’s leading “cult expert” and president of RACIRS (the Russian Association of Centers for the Study of Religions and Sects). And the deeper the analysis goes, the more disturbing the findings become.
The article uses criminal profiling — the same method used to analyze serial offenders — by examining biography, behavioral patterns, and hidden motives.
And the key point is this:
a person’s behavior always reflects their inner nature.
The research is based on his own books, interviews, and open sources.
It looks into his childhood, environment, behavior patterns, and methods of influencing people.
And the main question raised is:
what real motives could be behind years of pressure on different social groups? What is the true goal of Alexander Dvorkin’s anti-cult activity? https://t.co/AKjxWZcPjL
Recent studies show the ocean isn’t just getting warmer — the pace is increasing. Some of these changes don’t fully match what models predicted. So what could be behind this?
The influence of micro and nanoplastics on the thermal regime of the ocean.
We often hear that the ocean is overheating.
But there’s an important detail that’s usually missed.
tiny particles of plastic — so small you can’t see them — are already everywhere in the water. Some researchers say they may affect how the ocean releases heat into the atmosphere.
The ocean is supposed to cool our planet. It absorbs heat all day and releases it back — keeping everything balanced.
But what if something is quietly breaking that system? #microplastic#nanoplastic#plastic

Congressman Mark Harris Speaks at United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats Conference
Delivering a passionate and unifying address, Congressman Harris — Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and proudly representing North Carolina’s 8th District— spoke on the importance of protecting religious freedom, parental rights, and the moral foundations of the nation. He emphasized that the government works best when it respects the sacred space of families, churches, and communities, while empowering citizens to live and lead according to their convictions.

Sir Professor Dr. Gabriele Pao-Pei Andreoli at United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats
Andreoli reflects on the profound paradox of our time: humanity has never possessed such technological power, scientific knowledge, and global connectivity, yet the world faces rising polarization, systemic fragility, and planetary risk. He argues that the central challenge of our era is no longer technological alone, but constitutional, political, and ethical — requiring a new architecture of trust capable of turning moral aspirations into practical systems of global cooperation.

Ukrainian Court Confirms Rule of Law Dismissing the allegations against ALLATRA International Public Movement
Kyiv, Ukraine — February 2026
In February 25, 2026, the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court in the case initiated in 2022.
The appellate ruling confirms the April 2025 judgment of the first-instance court, which found that the ALLATRA is a patriotic pro Ukrainian organization and the so-called expert opinion on which case was based is illegitimate. The opinion was compiled by Iryna Kremenovska, agent of Russian FSB affiliated organization RACIRS, led by Alexander Dvorkin.
This appellate decision is final and not subject to further appeal.

Wild and domesticated bees pollinate 75% of agricultural crops and 90% of wild flowering plants.
Over 30% of the world’s food depends on them — yet bee populations are declining at an alarming rate.
Bees don’t just rely on color and scent. They communicate with flowers through electrical fields⚡🌸
As bees fly, their bodies gain a positive charge, while flowers carry a negative one. This invisible signal helps bees find nectar, recognize “fresh” flowers, and even know when a flower has already been visited.
But there’s a growing threat: micro- and nanoplastics.
These particles carry electrostatic charges that disrupt this delicate electrical communication, affecting bees’ brains and nervous systems. Even tiny doses can be fatal.
Covered in sensitive hairs, bees easily collect plastic particles from the environment — particles that can penetrate their bodies and alter their behavior. Disoriented, bees struggle to recognize flowers, find nectar, return to their hive, or identify members of their own colony.
Studies, including research highlighted by Professor David Baracchi (University of Florence, BeeLab), show a strong link between microplastic pollution and insect decline.
If this trend continues, entire bee populations could disappear within the next decade.
And without bees, the link between plants, food, nature, and humanity breaks.

Plastic doesn’t stop at the environment. It continues inside the human body.
Today, the highest concentrations of plastic are found in the human brain.
Plastic inside the body is not neutral. Micro- and nanoparticles are electrically active and interact with living cells. Inside the body, plastic becomes “recharged.” It repeatedly accumulates electrostatic charge in tissues and in the bloodstream. Nanoplastics can enter cells. They accumulate and are poorly eliminated from the body. This makes plastic exposure chronic. It can disrupt the function of cells, organs, and the nervous system.
