@MSM12345668@RutgersAltRoute It's so true. Tests are still the standard in my school but I am trying to change these up. It is difficult though since I teach at an advanced high school and these students must know how to test to their AP and IB exams. The struggle is real. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset.
@Jayyy12322@RutgersAltRoute I am developing curriculum myself for 5/6 classes I teach and sometimes I wish I had these hand-me-downs, but most of the time I like being able to create my own. It's just time consuming! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@scrutgersX@RutgersAltRoute I have been working on finetuning these rubrics myself. I don't have a rubric for all my assignments and projects, but found that students do appreciate them. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@BlackBakunin@RutgersAltRoute I am trying to incorporate the same. I know there is opportunity for improvement here since as a new teacher it's difficult without working 24/7 to create project based assessments, but it is an area I am continuously improving. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A5: (3/3) I’ve found that not answering that question directly but rather informing them to be active in the class, ask engaging questions, and complete all assignments will help set them up for success. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A5: (2/3) It is difficult in some settings to promote the growth mindset as students are primarily concerned with what do I need to learn and study in order to get an A on the quiz or test. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A5: (1/3) These types of assessment practices allow opportunities for feedback, reflection, improvement, and growth. At the school I teach at, students’ primary focus is their grade. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@NicholasDi9792@RutgersAltRoute I think this is crucial. I have had days where students walk into my class just fully exhausted from all the assignments and assessments given to them that day. Almost always when that happens, they end up getting a "reading" day from me. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@ian_kosnac@RutgersAltRoute I love this! I think I will steal the pencils idea from you. So true in life in general. You will be wrong more than you are right. As soon as you get comfortable with being wrong, you've succeeded in my mind! #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@KGainerteacher@RutgersAltRoute I think this is so important and I've been trying to improve my own turnaround time for feedback to make it more relevant for my students. As teachers its challenging to get everything done within the day, but I have been prioritizing feedback. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: Feedback is a powerful tool. It provides students with valuable information about progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. One way I do this in my classroom is by validating effort, identifying areas for improvement, and encouraging practice. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@DaddioRachel@RutgersAltRoute YESS! This is so important. If you think you can't, then you can't. If you think you can, then you can. The power of manifestation. I start my class off with a quote of the day to inspire. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@arcurem@RutgersAltRoute This is so important. I try to go with "Not quite, but you are on the right track. Does anybody have another response to build off of what XX said?" #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@mar5729_ @RutgersAltRoute This is what I tell my kids all the times. That even as the teacher, I make mistakes. And when I do, I want them to let me know and all of us to learn. Nobody is perfect. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@KabbaniGSE@RutgersAltRoute This is so important. I try to always ask "why." As I want to understand what they were thinking to praise their thought process and direct them to the correct answer based on that thought process. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@SocciJoseph@RutgersAltRoute Yes! This is extremely important. All my worksheets and homework assignments are not graded for correctness, but rather completeness. I give students full credit if they show me they tried and together in class we go through all responses. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A3: (2/2) One way I can fine-tune my practice is by further focusing on highlighting and praising effort in the classroom, not just correct responses. #TeacherEd#GrowthMindset
