High-quality instructional materials improve student outcomes, but generally require a shift in how teachers teach. This means we also need high-quality professional learning.
I love this list of what HQPL is.

Just hosted first book study meeting for Building thinking classrooms in mathematics. It was great to connect w/teachers. #thinkingclassroom thank you @pgliljedahl for writing such an engaging and easy to read book.
@AmericanReading thank you so much for the session about #MLLS
I've read so much of both presenters work and it was great to see them live. The point on engagement really hit home.
A3: Not every moment of feedback has to be epic! Focus on feedback in the form of cues, questions, prompts, highlighters, etc. You are simply trying to "cause more learning" so trigger that in the most efficient way; you're not writing a dissertation. #ATAssessment
submitted another round of queries for the first time since february after multiple revisions. and then immediately started writing a play. so that’s what’s up with me 😂 #amwriting#amquerying
Looking for alternatives to @Flipgrid as my district still does not allow us to use this wonderful tool. Any suggestions? #interactivelearning#studentvoice @A_LPuryear
Providing concrete examples of how to build mathematical discourse w/ teachers today. Lots of great convos including about equity. When good protocols and routines are in place everyone can participate and learn from each other. Excited to do more of this work alongside teachers.
The way we're panicking to figure out how to "catch students up" is evidence that we haven't been trying to meet students where they're at all along.
We think, "But they no longer fit into our timelines!"
But, like, they never did. We were just treating fairy tales as truth.
This afternoon we welcomed almost 50 new K5 staff with our @McpsMT new teacher mentor program! So excited to have this outstanding group part of our district.
Rolling into a new year in a new position. Working meaningful pd that can be followed up with coaching while attending to teacher's emotional needs as we head into an uncertain year yet again.
@ZennedMath thank you for a great session on math fluency #buildmathminds21 getting teachers to move away from the drill and kill worksheet is diff. This session gave immediate action points. Looking into getting the books. #fluencyisnotworksheets
Continuing my learning #buildmathminds21 w/@jennalaib and #slowrevealgraphs. Love using the same ? Of notice and wonder to engage in data. Also a way to integrate social issues into math. Love this!
@KappelEmily love the language of math to show how the number line set up changes. Using muplicationnon the number line was wonderful. Can't wait to share this tool with my older grade teachers. #buildmathminds21
@ckingeducation @ckinged oh goodness what an amazing session. Can't wait to share with others and provide teachers time to use the manipulatives in their rooms so they can let students do the same. #buildmathminds21
Two great questions in @dinamendola 's session today : Why don't they get? and What do we do when they don't get it? This is really what teachers need to be able to answer in order to help students.

@andredaughty thank you for sharing about #PBL. I believe it is a game changer for ALL learners and is equitable, rigorous learning when all learners are included. #buildmathminds21
