Methane is temporary, but CO2 is forever.

We should reduce both as quickly as possible, but it's much harder to "undo" past CO2. The only way to reduce warming past CO2 emissions is to suck it out of the atmosphere. For methane, on the other hand, emitting less reduces temps.
