@aliceinwow_@audragabrielle_ Under Patriarchy women aren’t oppressors. They may hold false consciousness and we can educate them as such but we also respect that they are autonomous individuals with their own views and values.
@alokranj Hard disagree. Mantel absolutely mastered the art of the present tense. She made it a place where history was (is) live and different possibilities can exist in the same space. My Tuppence worth.
@JonathanPieNews Or maybe the BBC has just issued a blanket ‘no blackface’ rule on all its content. Which, let’s be honest, in 2026, is not exactly PC gone mad.
#EdSheeran opens up his tour stop in Philadelphia with a prepared statement:
“Now, I want to address the question of where I stand on Israel and Palestine, and whether my doing this concert here tonight implies where I stand…What happened in Israel and at the Supernova Music Festival on October 7 was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain. What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic, unjustifiable, and disproportionate. My heart has been broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, of children’s lives. The systemic injustice we’re seeing unfold in the West Bank cannot be overlooked. I am already speaking to people across the spectrum to work out how to make a contribution that helps victims of these terrible times, and listening and learning because I do not know enough.”
@OfficialGuyE@93vintagejones Ironically they offer a better critique of toxic masculinity, British exceptionalism and imperialism than anything in recent years.
@leo_leo_X Those who have legitimate concerns about the erosion of women’s spaces and nasty little twats like that have nothing in common. It’s like comparing those who are concerned about people smugglers and kids drowning in small boats with Tommy Robinsons facists.
