The 68th Irish Geological Research Meeting, sponsored by @GeolSurvIE @Dept_ECC was held in @tcddublin over the weekend.
A number of Geological Survey Ireland staff presented on the research happening in the Survey, such as @TellusGSI GEMINI, & the Research Programme.
Today is World Soil Day and to mark it the Tellus Programme in @GeolSurvIE , @Dept_ECC has released new urban soil geochemistry results for Dublin City, which is a part of the ‘G8’ survey area.

In 2020, 3 major peatland landslides occurred in Leitrim, Kerry & Donegal. @GeolSurvIE , @Dept_ECC along with @NPWSIreland, @DeptHousingIRL has released an assessment on the main factors causing the landslides. Reports prepared by @FehilyTimoneyCo

The SS Polwell, built in 1888, was sunk by U-96 on June 5, 1918, near Lambay Island. All 30 crew members survived. The ship was one of 31 sunk by U-96 during WWI.
