Congratulations to @teachcardona, @JoeBiden's nominee for Secretary of Education! Miguel Cardona, a former public school teacher, union member, and principal, has forged a career advocating for CT's students and will continue fighting for educators across the nation.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.
More than 41% of school districts need to update or replace their HVAC systems in at least half of their buildings. #DemandSafeSchools https://t.co/DuCL97HVFC
A7: Teachers need to take care of ourselves so that we can respond calmly and appropriately. It does not help Billy if we step into the chaos with him. We must take care of ourselves so that we can be the calm in his storm. My number one self-care item is sleep. #ECLCHFB
A6: I feel like I’m pretty good at facial expressions, gestures, proximity and touch. I sometimes need to work on tone of voice and intensity of response. #ECLCHFB
A5: Going to their homes, meeting them, giving them their goody bag really helps in kickstarting a good teacher-student relationship. Also, reading through the getting to know you forms before the first day of school because they are usually pretty helpful. #ECLCHFB
A4: Getting out of bed is a difficult transition for me. It requires me to move from a place I love and do things that are less fun than laying in bed. I’m also probably slightly dysregulated at this point in the day. #ECLCHFB
A3: Yes, Billy still needs to be held accountable for his actions. However, what that looks like may be different from what holding Andy accountable looks like. #ECLCHFB
A2: I can think of many times. Depending on the situation I would react differently but some of my go-to responses are a calm and quiet question to the student and listening to their response, proximity, distraction, praise a student who is following directions, etc. #ECLCHFB
A1: I encourage a lot of group activities. I want students to feel comfortable and safe. A lot of time learning names and getting to know you activities at the beginning of the year to help foster that family feeling quickly. Building up the one on one relationships. #ECLCHFB
#GoodTroubleEdu is reimagining how grades work (K-12). Who says that everyone in 3rd grade is suppossed to be at the exact same level at the same time in every subject? Makes no sense in the 21st century🤷🏿♂️. We can do better #HipHopEd
