Half of business owners on this #Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car. In fact, it was 4%. And the % for those who walked or cycled? 72%. Retailers routinely overestimate the # of “car customers.” Via @carltonreid

Lancaster, CA transformed its downtown in just 8 months by redesigning it's main street from a mini-highway to a tree-lined boulevard.
For the cost of just $11.5M, the project has generated $273M in economic output since 2010, creating 800 jobs, and nearly doubling tax revenue!
Every winter, fresh snow reveals how much we’ve over-designed our streets & roads for cars, making them faster & more dangerous, & how much space we could reclaim for people & public life. We call them #sneckdowns. GIF via @fietsprofessor#sneckdown
Spoke to a few Boston-based professionals in the development sector this weekend, each of whom live on the South Shore.

They told me the roundtrip commute by train is $27.00 (including $3 for parking). WTF
This Spanish city centre has been car-free for 20 years. 12k people have moved into the centre since the ban. The Mayor says vehicles don’t have more right to public space than people — & he’s been re-elected 4 times since banning cars. Pontevedra via @WEF
PSA to all reporters out there: STOP CALLING CAR CRASHES AN ACCIDENT. Continued use of the word "accident" implies that these events are outside human influence. In reality, they are predictable results of specific actions. It's irresponsible for reporters to continue to do this.
Does everyone know that there’s a tax deduction self employed people can take on new cars, but the cars have to weigh at least 6,000 lbs?

Arrived in Atlanta, took “direct” Marta train from airport to city center. Total two hour trip for 11 miles, including long wait in bus line, long shuttle bus between terminals, long bus ride, long wait for train to leave. MARTA, any plans to improve this???
The bus operator shortage has forced many large transit agencies to cut service.
One recommendation from @TransitCenter’s new report: Make bus stops more accessible to reduce operator responsibilities. (That means no illegal parking at bus stops!)
