This is fascinating too. A man started giving money through World Vision after receiving a photo of a child. A reporter went to find that kid, who was really surprised... bc he hadn't seen a dime of the donated money and had never even signed up with WV

Sorry- this is insane.
You can say we deserve a lower interest rate, but the lenders in the market say we don't, and they get to make that decision and thereby set rates.
With 120+% debt/GDP, $2 trillion deficits, and interest > defense spending, saying "strong" is meaningless.
Oh hey I know to get the right to turn against the Confederacy

Many of you probably missed the WaPo article revealing that a group of pro-Trump influencers were quietly given civilian roles at the Pentagon.
One of them is retired Army Colonel Thomas Anderson, better known as @CynicalPublius.
In addition to promoting Pete Hegseth’s silly macho propaganda, he actively participated in anti-Ukraine rhetoric and spouted straight-up Kremlin propaganda.

Tucker Carlson has gone so far down the rabbit hole that he's now adopted Nazi framing on Jews.
Not just any Nazis.
Goebbels. Hitler.
Tucker claimed Jews have "completely hijacked" the U.S. government, painted Jews as rootless with "no real interest in the United States and its future, who aren't tied to its past, and who are basically just wearing [the U.S.] as a skin suit."
Tucker further claimed the "skin suit" wearers also control the E.U. and NATO, and are actually responsible for the war in Ukraine — which Putin was "forced" to invade — all in order to "reset the international monetary system."
Tucker's rhetoric paralleled Goebbels and Hitler, whether intentionally or not, by:
1) Portraying Jews as aliens "who aren't tied to [America's] past" & have "no real interest in... its future" — akin to Goebbels' "rootless and nomadic."
2) Claiming Jews "completely hijacked" the U.S. government — Hitler claimed that Jews secretly pushed subsequent nations to enter WW I against Germany, and both Goebbels & Hitler repeatedly claimed it was the Jews who got Britain, the Soviet Union, and the U.S. into WW II.
3) Portraying Jews as an alien taking control of a host body by "wearing [the U.S.] as a skin suit" — In his 1942 Reichstag speech, Hitler said that Jews had "driven America to war," as well as the other Allied nations, who were merely "helpless tools of an international world parasite." (In the same show, Tucker also said that the U.S., NATO & EU were "all pawns in someone else's game, obviously.")
4) Suggesting that Jews used control over the U.S. and thus also NATO and the EU to push the entire world into war for financial gain ("reset the international monetary system") — In his infamous January 1939 Reichstag speech, Hitler warned that "international financial Jewry" was trying to "plung[e] the nations into a world war" so that "this rootless international race can profit from the business of war."
For those who want to say that Tucker did not mean Jews because he eventually said "Israel" was the puppetmaster, that ignores the simple reality.
Increasingly in recent months, Tucker no longer even bothers to distinguish between American Jews (or "neocons") and Israel.
He sometimes references "Israel's proxies" or the Americans who are supposedly following orders, but he mostly glosses over any distinction.
Consider how he described Ben Shapiro this month as nothing more than someone "created" by Israel, that the Jewish state got him "into Harvard Law" and made the Daily Wire successful by getting Shapiro's company a "deal with Facebook that no one else got."
Tucker then made it explicit that he views American Jews as mere extentions of Israel, claiming that Shapiro's views are simply "the opinions of the people who prop up Ben Shapiro, who created Ben Shapiro. This is what they think."
Tucker apparently thinks he is cleverly avoiding anti-Semitism by applying Nazi-era tropes to "Israel." (And he loves to trot out a few deeply anti-Israel Jews as cover for "not all Jews!".)
But, of course, the "Israel" shtick doesn't work when you make no distinction between Israel and American Jews — let alone when you absurdly claim that they're "created" by and simply follow orders from Israel.
Surely JD Vance doesn't actually believe Jews — including those who work closely with him — have "no ties" to America's past or have "no real interest in its future."
And Vance must find abhorrent the parasite imagery of American Jews wearing America as a "skin suit."
When JD Vance addresses the Republican Jewish Coalition tonight, it's a perfect opportunity not just to "support Israel," but to specifically condemn Tucker's most grotesque rhetoric.
Will he do it?
Will be curious to see how both parties react to this. Unclear if Republicans will want to sign on to something that will be tagged as "sending money to Hollywood libs" or if Democrats will want to back something Trump wants.
One of these guys is the best there is at what he does and the other guy is Wolverine.
Jack Kirby was short (5'2 to Wolvie's 5'3), stocky, loved cigars, and like the seemingly unkillable canucklehead, the gruff vet saw action on Omaha beach on D-Day.
I mean Kirby's own wife was nicknamed Roz, suspiciously akin to Logan's own beloved Red.
While I'll be the first to admit a lot of it is coincidence, I'm just saying is that it's hard to not to draw parallels between the two.

In the dead of night at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, a garbage truck stopped behind a women’s barracks. Its cargo was not trash.
One by one, 54 children were dumped into the freezing mud before the truck drove away, leaving them crying in the darkness.
Inside the barracks, 26-year-old Luba Tryszynska heard the commotion through the thin walls. A former nurse from Kamenets-Litovsk, she had arrived at Bergen-Belsen only weeks earlier. When she stepped outside, she found terrified children between the ages of four and twelve.
Earlier that day, their mothers had been separated from them and transported to another camp near Hamburg. The children had been loaded onto a different vehicle, driven around for hours while officials decided their fate, and ultimately abandoned like unwanted cargo.
For Luba, the sight was unbearable.
Two years earlier, at Auschwitz, she had been forced to watch her own family disappear. During the selection process, an SS guard noticed her young son, Isaac. Knowing mothers with small children were often sent directly to the gas chambers, Luba’s mother-in-law pulled the boy from her arms in a desperate attempt to save her life.
Isaac, her husband Hersch, and her mother-in-law were all taken away. None returned.
Luba survived, but the loss haunted her every day. She often wondered why she had been spared when the people she loved most had not.
That night at Bergen-Belsen, standing before dozens of abandoned children, she finally found a purpose for her survival.
Without hesitation, she gathered the children and brought them inside. The other prisoners were terrified. Sheltering children could have resulted in severe punishment or death for everyone in the barracks.
Luba did it anyway.
She arranged bunks for them, tucked the youngest children into the safest corners, and reassured them with quiet words:
“You’re safe now. Stay quiet, and I’ll take care of you.”
Then she took an even greater risk.
Luba approached Fritz Klein, an SS doctor at the camp, and told him directly that she intended to keep the children hidden and under her care. Against all expectations, Klein agreed and allowed her to use a separate wooden hut.
Why he consented remains unclear.
With that small concession, Luba created something almost unimaginable inside one of the most horrific places on earth: a refuge for children.
Over the next four months, she and a handful of other women worked tirelessly to keep them alive. Hermina Krantz, a Slovak prisoner, helped clean and prepare whatever scraps of food could be found. Dr. Ada Bimko, another prisoner, cared for the sick and injured.
Luba became the heart of the operation.
Every day she searched for food, traded possessions, begged for supplies, and sometimes stole whatever was necessary to feed the children. Bread, water, bits of soup, and occasionally milk became precious treasures.
Remarkably, some German guards even began assisting her. They quietly provided firewood, extra bread, and on one occasion, an entire bucket of fresh milk.
As the months passed, more orphaned children arrived.
By April 1945, Luba was caring for 94 children, including an infant less than a year old.
Then, on April 15, British troops liberated Bergen-Belsen.
The soldiers entered a camp filled with death, disease, and starvation. Everywhere they looked were bodies and prisoners barely clinging to life.
But when they opened the door to Luba’s hut, they encountered something extraordinary.
Inside were dozens of children who had survived.
A British officer reportedly asked who was responsible for them.
Luba stepped forward and answered simply:
“I am.”
Thanks to her determination, nearly all of those children lived through the war.
After liberation, she personally helped return many of the children to their home countries. Some were escorted back to the Netherlands, while others were taken to safety in Sweden.
Eventually, Luba married fellow survivor Sol Frederick and settled in Washington, D.C., where she built a new life far from the horrors she had endured.
Yet the children never forgot her.
In 1995, fifty years after the war, many of those she had saved gathered in Amsterdam for a reunion. They arrived as adults—doctors, teachers, engineers, parents, and grandparents.
One after another, they embraced the woman who had protected them when no one else would.
The child Luba lost at Auschwitz could never be replaced. The pain of that loss stayed with her forever.
But through her courage, compassion, and refusal to look away, nearly one hundred other children were given the chance to grow up, build families, and live full lives.
Luba Tryszynska passed away in 2009 at the age of 91.
Her story remains one of the most powerful reminders that even in humanity’s darkest moments, a single act of love can become a lifeline for countless others.
