"Meanwhile is palliative care." .@colbertlateshow you understand #palliativecare better than many health care professionals! You are a welcome relief for this palliative care doc. Thank you!

@ErekMajka@rubin_allergy That palliative care is there to "get the DNR" or have a desired outcome. Our focus is to TALK with pts to understand their prefs/values and match care to that, whatever it is.
@sylv_lane One of the beautiful things in medical training is watching people find THEIR thing.(Not everyone does!) Thank God some people want to do Neurosurg or Peds Onc because I sure don't. You (and non-pal care ppl) will do best doing the work that is challenging and engaging to YOU.
@PeteButtigieg It is even better than I'd envisioned, when you told us to imagine it. Grateful that our new leadership team is smart, strong, and ready to roll up their sleeves on this new day. THANK YOU.
Privileged to get 2nd vaccination yesterday. For that and other reasons, this feels apropos today:

I know masks have become a partisan issue — but it’s a patriotic act. Experts say wearing a mask from now until April will save more than 50,000 lives.
BEYOND grateful to have been vaccinated. I hope all Americans >18 who can get this will do so ASAP! These are life-saving, safe, and our best hope for getting out of this mess. #VAXUP
@QaaliHussein1 As a resident, when pronouncing death I would take a moment of silence to reflect on what I appreciated about the pt, then audibly say "goodbye Mr. X." The same can be done as a group the next day on rounds. Our hospital also facilitates yearly reflection on Dia de Los Muertos
🚨I wrote about what health-care workers are going through, how exhausted & scared they are, and what this 3rd pandemic surge is doing to them.
It’s not like the first 2. It’s worse. How much slack is left in the system? Iowa nurse: “There is none” 1/

@kafkline@haithamahmedmd This is the really hard point...you don't necessarily know what basic science points will be most relevant to you in your future specialty when you're going through 1st yr. So how do you figure out what to cut?
13 years ago, I emailed Dr. Fauci out of the blue to ask if I might interview him for my undergrad thesis. He invited me to his office, where he answered all my questions. When I sent him the thesis, HE READ THE WHOLE THING (see his overly effusive review below). Who does that?!
