@PropofolDreamz @OG818Girl Specificity (0.83) was higher than sensitivity (0.55), but PPV was low because C diff was relatively uncommon. My takeaway is that staff who say they can identify the smell of C diff aren't completely wrong but aren't good enough to be clinically useful.
@wildestdreams_3 I diagnosed a patient's inflammatory arthritis and sent her to rheumatology, where she got treatment that let her do crafts again. When I got pregnant she crocheted a blanket. One of my favorite gifts ever.
@DrZackaryBerger I'd be surprised if she thinks storytelling, or the individual moments of connection about which she tells stories, are enough. It would be great to hear her stories about better alternatives to the status quo. Suspect she'd be the best sort of preacher.
@DrZackaryBerger Not at the talk but long time fan of Dr. Manning. I read her stories as implicit arguments for the need for better institutions & motivators for the work of building those them. (cont.)
@DrZackaryBerger "What's going on in this patient's life that's leading them to prioritize things other than our plan for their health care?" (May create space for motivational interviewing as well as problem solving.)
@jacremes I share my surname with the head of the lymphoma program at U Chicago. I get confused when skimming conference abstracts and journals: "that sounds like something I'd be interested in but I don't think I worked on it...oh, it's Justin again."
@majorajay "Scales only collected before progression or relapse" seems like a key point. It's interesting to know that people feel about as good or bad on either regimen but but it seems like the big QoL gain with Pola-R-CHP comes from not having to go through salvage/auto or CART.
@DrZackaryBerger Based on recent review of PDMP info for a patient I share with the JHOC resident practice, I think housestaff can now write for bup themselves using the hospital's institutional DEA number.
@debbylevine I kept getting calls from a recruiter about a job in Portland, ME, while on vacation in Portland, ME, last August. I had to keep reminding myself that Portland in November-March is very different from Portland in August.
@jacremes@tedmccoy I spend my days alternating between offering amazing technological solutions (we'll take out your T cells, teach them to kill your cancer, & put them back in!), breaking awful news, & telling people I don't know why they hurt but I don't think they're dying. It's a weird job.
