🇵🇸 “The term ceasefire has been used as a surrender cudgel against the Palestinians in Gaza,” Drop Site’s Jeremy Scahill explained on Sky News.
Jeremy noted that Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, then violated it repeatedly by killing more than a thousand Palestinians and advancing deeper into Gaza, while the international conversation shifted to demands that Hamas disarm, despite it never agreeing to do so in the signed agreement.
Israel “signed a ceasefire with Hamas, not with the children in tents that they continue to burn alive,” Jeremy said.
His remarks came as an entire family of five was burned alive in new Israeli strikes on residential apartments in Gaza City tonight. (See linked post below.)

The news hook for this piece is Cal State University’s renewal of its contract w/ OpenAI. The CSU system is purchasing ChatGPT Edu licenses for three years at a cost of $39 million.
Remarkably enough, AI centrism is the leading rationale for this venture

for anyone curious about this dynamic, it's very much a quantitative phenomena. Post Oct 7, despite university and nonprofits finding roughly equal instances of antisemitism and anti-Muslim racism, the former was covered 9X-31X more in US media, depending on how it was measrured
I love this braindead narrative that Weiss is revamping CBS News to chase a younger demographic. Last November Weiss said that to win new viewers CBS ought to hire the “charismatic” Alan Dershowitz, an 87-year-old best known for defending Israel and pedophilia.
🚨: It's after midnight in Gaza as Israel is blowing up civilian homes on an unprecedented scale in Gaza City.
Reports on the ground and eyewitnesses talk of charred bodies and massive destruction, coupled with a vast number of casualties.
The child Wadie Al-Madhoun was killed today after he found a suspicious object resembling food cans near his home. When he opened it, it exploded in his face.
Both happy and sad for the arrival of large numbers of blackpoll warblers last week. They are striking and look quite different from many other warbler species, but they signal the end of spring migration!

Amazing! The House just passed a War Powers Act resolution to end the Iran war! It must now go to the Senate, but it won't need a signature from Trump.
This is the furthest any WPR has gone against the Iran war!
A major defeat for those who wish to continue the war, although it doesn't automatically force Trump's hand.
Several Republicans broke with Trump to get this passed:
Massie,
Fitpatrick,
Davidson, and
Barrett.
Several organizations deserve massive credit for this key win:

No other military on earth has killed as many rescuers providing lifesaving services as the Israeli military has in recent years in Palestine and Lebanon.
Israel is trying to get ahead of a policy discussion they don't ever want happening publicly, whether the US should be arming Israel. They know that would not go well for them, especially now. They hope instead to rework the scheme in a way that maintains the benefits and avoids the messy fight.
“The problem is not the Jewish presence in the holy land, it’s always been there. The problem is not high levels of Jewish immigration to Palestine. The problem here is the colonial agenda transforming an overwhelmingly Arab territory into an exclusivist and supremacist Jewish state which required the removal of the Arab population.”

There was a point, 3 yrs ago, when Israel felt compelled to explain its attacks on hospitals. Then it realized Western govts aren’t fussed about such war crimes & Western media was happy to justify them. And so here we are: dozens of hospitals bombed in Gaza, Iran & Lebanon.
I had 20 patients in my Pediatric War Injuries Clinic today, for follow-up care.
Of the 20 children, Israel had killed one or both parents of 19 of them.
Leen Hijaz, valedictorian at her high school in North Carolina, said the following in her graduation speech:
"Before I leave the stage, I have one last thing to say. Every single person here has a voice; we have the privilege to use it when millions around the world are struggling and suffering to be heard. Whether it’s the millions suffering in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Afghanistan and so many other countries around the world, or families being torn apart by ICE. These are not just an issue here; they are happening there, they’re happening right here as I speak. My point is, we’re not given a voice to stay silent."
Corey Robin, a political theorist at Brooklyn College, writes: "The mere mention of Palestine—maybe ICE, too—sent the high school principal, Melissa Moore, hurtling across the stage to seize the microphone from Hijaz, and stop her from saying these unapproved words.
Just look at this photograph: A young Muslim woman, speaking out, and a desperate, terrified principal trying to shut her down, lest the student say something unauthorized, disapproved, discordant with the views of an increasingly small clique of government officials and voters.
It's so pathetic. It reads like a comic play by Václav Havel. It looks like the desperate last days of the Soviet Union. I can only hope Hijaz speaks for a generation that will, one day, sweep all this garbage into the dustbin of history".
It’s clear Weiss made it explicit 60 Mins would lose whatever pretense of journalistic independence it had & Pelley couldnt stomach this level of humiliation. They paid for the brand, not the people. Look forward to 700 investigative segments about Hamas sleeper cells at Columbia
