Americans' Social Security benefits will have to be cut by roughly a quarter in six years due to depleted funds, according to a June 9 report from the Social Security Board of Trustees. That's months sooner than the group had estimated in 2025. https://t.co/8WRwxJkhwt
@LucaR2005@dannygalea99@RobynUrback Precisely. The PCs hard repeatedly embarrassed themselves (not as bad as the OLP has) and run through hapless leaders The man who would end that run was a in the first year of his first term as a municipal councillor.
@dollarsanddata Wow, pretty disappointed to see @dollarsanddata blocked me over what I thought was a pretty reasonable and measured discussion. I’d always been a fan and even bought his book, but first time I engaged with him. Never meet your heroes!
@dollarsanddata If I held AAPL, sold it and bought AMZN and AMZN went up 50%, but AAPL went up 70% I don’t think it would be fair to say “I lost 20% investing in AMZN”.
“Norway increased the tax, and revenues. They could have increased more in status quo” accurate but loses the shock factor.
@prinsessmarthe@dollarsanddata@irfnali1 Please stay out of this; Americans are explaining what’s happening in Norway and don’t need any pesky Norwegians to help with “facts” nor “nuance”
@dollarsanddata You can make that argument, quite fairly I would say. But it’s not accurate to say Norway “lost $594M” when revenues actually increased substantially
Wealth tax revenue increased 50% in 2023; are you suggesting asset values among wealth tax payers appreciated by >50% that year?
@dollarsanddata Nick, love your work and this is a very convenient anecdote but it has the inconvenient fact of being untrue. The wealth tax generated NOK$27B in 2022, versus NOK$18B the year before, and increasing AGAIN in 2023, to NOK$32B.
@AirCanada I’ve been trying to book a flight all day but get error code BKRW-DBS-999 at the payment page each time. Is this a known issue? Is there a timeline to fix?
@jbsteinberg@cselley I also can’t really choose an Okanagan wine here in Ontario because the interprovincial trade barriers Carney promised to dismantle last year haven’t changed. For some reason, it’s far easier for me to get wine from New Zealand than BC.
@tlwcavalcanti@karonliu Yeah and removing the jack was good! You don’t have to stick your phone in rice after getting caught in the rain and pray to the rice gods that your $1500 phone isn’t garbage.
