Yet another new anti-phage system !! But how all these defence systems work together? 🤔
That's what we investigated in this new paper, led by the very talented @Alice__Maestri
👇👇👇
Did you know that bacteria remember their past for many generations? In this new preprint from us (@VillaniAlexis and Senen Mendoza) and Banin lab (@ShmidovE ), we reveal the "how?" and "why?" underlying a long-standing mystery in bacterial memory. https://t.co/zFc8PDLqTu
@joeBondyDenomy@VillaniAlexis@ShmidovE Fantastic that you solved this! We have reproductively observed this in Pae (ie phages that plaque at 42 but not at 37). O/N at 42 is def part of our routine.
@AHarms485 We had the exact same question few weeks ago (for same applications). We opted for synergy H1 as it is reputed to be more robust when shaking over long time periods. Tecan devices are not designed for microbiology applications (FWIU). Synergy more expensive though
@BenoitChassaing@QuentinLamy2 Quentin, I was about to ask you where you ended up! Got the answer now. Congrats Benoit, you added a terrific collaborator to your team! So.. when are you starting phage projects ? 😀
MADS, an anti-phage defense. @Alice__Maestri@Anne_Chev @edzewestradescribe an innate immune system, MADS (methylation-associated defense system), that interacts with #CRISPR-Cas in its native host to provide strong & long-term protection against #phages https://t.co/YrzJkiRvXV
Really happy that our paper describing the MADS defence system is out !
This was a true team effort led by the talended @Alice__Maestri who also wrote a great thread about it 👇
I'm so happy to see the main part of my PhD work published in Cell Host & Microbe!
We discover and characterise MADS (Methylation Associated Defense System) in its native host, a clinical isolate of 𝘗𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘢 strain SMC4386
Ok! This is a special one!
My last postdoc / first PI paper is out! 🥳
