Today, the Black Caucus held a press conference to discuss its “2024 Reparations Priority Bill Package.” During the press conference, ACA7 sponsor Corey Jackson said that “we must first clear a path of any legal barriers that exist within our constitution.” “One of the chief among those,” he said, “is Proposition 209.”
ACA7 is Jackson’s effort to do exactly that—eliminate Proposition 209 (which is the part of the Constitution that prohibits preferential treatment based on race or ethnicity). As he put it, “We need to understand that the era of the colorblind society is a failure.”
Of course, this is the same Proposition 209 that Californians overwhelmingly voted to retain in 2020. And they are likely to want to retain it even more if they see it as standing in the way of reparations. Polls indicate that voters oppose reparations by more than 2 to 1. If the Senate puts ACA7 on the ballot, it will likely lose.
Is Jackson naive about ACA7’s prospects? Or is he eager to have a referendum on ACA7, knowing that will end in bitterness and disappointment? I cannot understand how such an obvious error in judgment could have gotten past the Assembly. If Senate leaders are wise, this proposal will never be put forward.
Why give Corey Jackson and Scott Wiener more opportunities to accuse well meaning Californians (many of whom are not even white) of being “white supremacists”? It won’t end well for the Golden State.

Title IX Insanity: In 2022, 8th grade boys in Kiel, Wisconsin were formally charged w/ sexual assault for not using "They, Them" pronouns when referencing classmate. The district was forced to drop these charges.
In 2024, Biden’s Title IX revisions would have these 8th grade boys CHARGED WITH SEXUAL HARASSMENT for the crime of misgendering a peer who identifies as “non-binary.” These charges would stick.
Progressives in California won’t let this go. They insist on sorting people by race even though their last attempt as Prop 16 was voted 👎 by 57%.
They’re rebranded it as ACA 7 & passed it in Assembly. Please say #NoACA7 and sign/share this petition.

They just can’t stop! California legislators are again trying to gut the state constitution’s ban preferential treatment based on race, sex, or ethnicity. They WANT the power to discriminate. Don’t let them have it. Keep discrimination illegal. #NoACA7

It is an indictment of all the unprincipled, rotten media and political outfits who have kept the #MeToo pot boiling for their own selfish, right-wing reasons, no matter the human cost
