The EWT welcomes the announcement by the Chinese Communist Party to enforce the ban on illegal wildlife trade & increase regulation of wildlife markets. Evidence points to wildlife markets as a source of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

The EWT works tirelessly across a range of projects to build capacity to combat illegal trade. We therefore welcome the decision by Chinese authorities to ban the trade of wild animals, & we call for the government to make this a permanent ban.
