Die deutsche Voice-over-Stimme macht daraus: „dass Kinder in Gaza verhungern.“

Nein. Sie sagt nicht „verhungern“. Sie sagt „getötet werden“.
Das ist keine Nebensächlichkeit. Das verändert die Aussage. Und ausgerechnet in dem Moment, in dem eine israelische Künstlerin die deutsche Vorsicht und die Staatsräson kritisiert, wird ihre schärfste Formulierung in der deutschen Fassung abgeschwächt. Genau das ist das Problem. Nicht nur, worüber deutsche Medien berichten, sondern wie sie Sprache verändern, sobald es um deutsche Verantwortung und Israels Krieg in Gaza geht.

MASJID AL-AQSA UNDER A TOTAL MEDIA BLACKOUT

“Who could be more unjust than those who prevent Allah’s Name from being mentioned in His *Masjids* and strive towards their ruin? Such people have no right to enter them except in fear. For them is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a tremendous punishment.”

— Surah al-Baqarah 2:114

This verse gives everything that follows its proper perspective.

Allah describes among the greatest forms of injustice the preventing of His remembrance in His *Masjids* and striving towards their ruin.

So when access to Masjid al-Aqsa is restricted, worshippers are prevented from entering, its identity is threatened and efforts are made to impose another religious reality upon it, these developments cannot be viewed in isolation from what Allah has already taught us about the sanctity of His Masjids.

And if working towards their ruin is among the gravest forms of injustice, then working to safeguard them, defend their sanctity, upholding their Islamic identity and frequenting them with the worship and remembrance of Allah is among the clearest manifestations of Iman.

Today is the second day of the Hebrew New Year, and the first day of incursions during the longest period of aggression against Masjid al-Aqsa in the year.

Yet, until now, not a single image from inside Masjid al-Aqsa has been published by any Jerusalemite, Palestinian, Arab or international media platform.

Masjid al-Aqsa is being entered by Israeli settlers as these words are being written, and in all likelihood the shofar is being blown inside it. Yet we have no documentation of what is happening.

Why?

The immediate reason is simple.

Today is a day of fasting according to Jewish teachings. The settlers entering Masjid al-Aqsa largely come from the Religious Zionist community who observe these teachings. As part of this observance, they refrain from ordinary activities, including using the internet and posting on social media.

But the more important reason, and the one that concerns us, is that the occupation has gradually succeeded in imposing a systematic media blackout designed to ensure that not a single image from inside Masjid al-Aqsa emerges from Palestinian or Arab sources.

Today provides a stark test of just how effective that blackout has become.

THE FIRST STAGE

The first stage came through pressure on the Jordanian Waqf to prevent Masjid al-Aqsa guards from taking photographs and publishing them on social media.

Guards were pursued on accusations of incitement and threatened with exclusion from Masjid al-Aqsa if they published such images.

This eventually led to a circular issued by the Director of the Jerusalem Waqf on 28 July 2020, which stated:

“It is strictly prohibited, under penalty of accountability, for any director, head of department or employee of the Jerusalem Waqf and Masjid al-Aqsa Department to make any statement to any press source or on social media concerning the Jerusalem Waqf Department in general or news relating to Masjid al-Aqsa in particular, except with official permission from the Director General of the Jerusalem Waqf and Masjid al-Aqsa Affairs Department. Anyone who fails to comply with this circular will subject themselves to disciplinary action and accountability.”

That pressure continued to the point that even unofficially announcing the number of settlers entering Masjid al-Aqsa almost became prohibited.

Meanwhile, the Waqf’s official daily briefing has remained suspended since 2022.

THE SECOND STAGE

The second stage was imposed during 2022 and 2023.
