The BMA is made up of everyday doctors, of whom 29,215 (83%) voted against this deal. This isn’t a 52/48 Brexit style vote.
This is a condemnation of a poor deal that was not acceptable.
@BBCBreaking For context, this is the hourly pay for doctors
And band 7 is a doctor’s assistant
Band 8a/b is a nurse practitioner.
Doctors have been taken advantage off for far too long
Imagine someone nicks £40 from your £100.
They give you £20 back, then call you greedy for asking for the rest.
That’s what doctors are facing.
They are being paid 20% less in real terms than they were in 2008.
Full pay restoration is not an unreasonable demand.
UK media is literally just millionaire presenters calling doctors greedy for wanting to be paid more than £18/hr for saving your lives in the middle of the night.
It's Monday morning and I'm the only GP in the building (due to leave and sickness). Usually, we have 2-3 GPs.
Five years ago, there would have been 5 GPs on a Monday morning. Ten years ago, there would have been 8.
I wish we had the resources to hire these GPs.
Patients are waiting years for surgery and weeks to see a GP or Consultant.
Instead of fixing it, @wesstreeting is cutting doctors’ jobs; blocking the very people who could be treating you.
The public are being kept in the dark.
Who does this benefit?

Care for the PERSON not their diagnosis. Basic stuff. In my opinion this is medical negligence! Really scary to see on a regular basis in any patient this isn’t a simple “give x treatment for y problem and they get better”
Still scares me how silo’d medical care is. Post op DHS, poorly Mx pain, not mobilising, pleural effusion and delirium. T&O reg not even including them on the ward round list as “those aren’t my problems to manage”. I mean what hope is there?
There should be an NHS index list for every single service provider, their location, and their referral contact details accessible to all clinicians.
It does not have to be on e-RS. It should be a simple website.
If a tertiary level service wants to refer to a local community service, nothing should stop them going direct.
@DHSCgovuk What about social workers, who are significant aspect of the multi-disciplinary team - who has always had this and receive much less support to find roles. Many qualified social workers who struggle to find jobs. You can have as many nurses as you want, no one will go anywhere
@DHSCgovuk Good to see action on nursing but the same issue faces newly qualified physios - you won’t address worklessness be MSK backlogs unless you end recruitment freezes and offer contacts to NQ physios too
@DHSCgovuk And what about retaining them & the ones you already have?
They're not going to work for peanuts.
You need to solve the pay dispute by paying NHS staff what they're worth.
Talk is cheap.
Whey they say 'Thatcher brought about meaningful change', they mean Britain lost secure well-paid employment, social housing, trade union rights, final salary pensions and adequate funding for the NHS, social care and schools.
Did the police arrest any of them?
Openly expressing support for genocide or incites violence in the UK, is a criminal offense under British law, particularly under laws against hate speech, incitement to violence, or supporting terrorism.
But since these terrorists support Israel, it's OK!
