@ddudels_ Honestly, this app is weird with regard to showing posts. I just came online and this the first post I saw from you. I go to my “following” tab and your first post to appear from 4 days ago. I have to scroll pretty far on “following” to see any posts from today.
I’m at a point where I’m depressed but functioning. I’m fine performing socially or at work, but the instant I have free time, I pretty much end up laying in bed. Almost none of my previous hobbies hold my attention and I can feel myself going through the motions or zoning out.
I want to c*mmission a 2-d artist at some point for art for a passion project game I’m coding. Would motivate me to have some visuals to work with. But at the same time, I don’t want to c*mmission without at least setting up 50% of the base code. Decisions.
If I had a nickel for every artist that chose to abandon their talent in favour of AI “art”. Even forgetting the theft (and that is not a tiny thing), there is still the environmental impact, the job erasure, and the lack of quality. How can any artist justify using generative AI
Okay, first of all. Anyone shitting on this guy is the purest form of cancer. He had an extremely challenging idea in mind and instead of running to gen ai like a little baby, he picked up the pen and gave it his best. Put some fucking respect on his name.
If you are an artist in this position, the only real piece of practical advice here is just DON'T. Extreme high/low angles are a nightmare at any skill level. They are like hands, they never get easier. Tackling them early on will just leave you discouraged. Learn to tackle flatter angles first, build up your fundamentals. Don't rush Cthulhu with a wooden sword
On this International Women’s Day, I want to remind people how important characters like Catwoman, Lois Lane, and Wonder Woman were and are. Created during a time when women were limited to being housewives with minimal freedom, they inspired so many girls and women alike.
All in all. Not a fan of the Canva attachment needed for Affinity but I can understand it. Combining all 3 of the original apps into 1 basically makes it competitive with Illustrator AND Photoshop. The AI fine print is also not great but easy to turn off. To each their own (3/3)
Okay dug deeper. The price is a “your mileage may vary” on whether you think it’s worth it. Access to affinity costs you signing up for a Canva account. My guess they probably want to convince you to upgrade to a Canva Pro subscription after the Affinity download. (1/3)
Canva Pro is NOT required to access or use Affinity. In Canva’s terms of service, they say that they would assume permission to use any content for AI training if you don’t change the setting but are very clear they won’t do so without permission. Screenshot for clarity. (2/3)
It gives me a feeling similar to when Microsoft made Windows easy to download for free from their website. Or when Honey was the sponsor with no catch or price attached. The company has to get some benefit somewhere. I just can’t see where on the surface.
Last quote tweet: Honestly, I’d be a lot less skeptical if they charged their usual perpetual license for the download. Free software without making it open source means there’s definitely a catch. If it’s free and there is no premium upgrade, how are you getting paid?
I’ll be honest. I’m skeptical that Affinity will stay free but honestly they’ve kept their word about the perpetual license without charging subscription. I’m willing to give them benefit of the doubt. And any competitor for Adobe is a good thing.
It's finally time to announce what we've been working on.
Welcome to the all new Affinity.

so I don’t use this but I’m just bout to tell y’all so you know they just recalled the neutrogena ultra soft makeup remover wipes because there’s a bacteria in it causing SEPSIS
I mean this with the utmost respect. I am going to be skeptical of any 3-D models from you going forward. You are very much a capable artist and your actual art is breathtaking but the fact you were willing to use AI for a joke makes me wary of what else you would use it for.
