Over the last several months, a lot of people have asked me about my campaign for the United States Senate in Iowa. I've been relatively quiet about it, and I think it's time to be honest about what happened.

The truth is simple: we never really got off the ground.

There was a lot of excitement early on. Many people were fired up about the possibility of a grassroots campaign, and I am grateful to every person who offered support, encouragement, and their time. But enthusiasm alone doesn't build a winning campaign. Looking back, I did not build the team that was needed to be successful. I should have been better prepared, better organized, and moving at a much larger scale as critical deadlines approached.

When Congresswoman Ashley Hinson entered the race and immediately secured President Trump's endorsement, the political landscape changed dramatically. As support consolidated around her campaign, many people who had expressed interest moved on. Invitations to speak slowed down, petition signatures became harder to gather, and the momentum we needed simply never materialized.

At the same time, my family was navigating major changes in our personal lives that demanded my attention and commitment. When I looked at everything honestly, it became clear that the campaign was not where it needed to be to move forward.

I take full responsibility for that.

To everyone who believed in this effort and felt disappointed by how it ended, I am sorry. You deserved a stronger campaign, and that's on me.

But this is not the end of the story.

Many months ago, I made the decision that if I was going to run for the United States Senate, I was going to do it the right way. That is why I am officially announcing that I am beginning preparations for a serious campaign for the United States Senate in 2028. Grassley is 92 years old, out of touch, and leaving his options open for 2028.

By then, Iowa will once again have the opportunity to choose its future. For too long, career politicians and powerful interests have dominated Washington while everyday Americans have watched their voices become less important. I believe Iowa is ready for leaders who understand the struggles of working families, small business owners, farmers, veterans, and everyday citizens because they have lived those experiences themselves.

This campaign will not be built overnight. It will not be built by consultants, special interests, or foreign influence. It will be built by Iowans and US supporters. 

Over the next two years, we will focus on building the organization, the volunteer network, and the grassroots movement necessary to compete and win. We will travel across the state, listen to communities that have been ignored, and bring together people who believe our government should answer to the American people—not wealthy donors, lobbyists, or outside interests.

This is our opportunity to send a message to Washington: Iowa belongs to Iowans.

If you supported us before, I hope you'll stand with us again. If you've never been involved in politics, now is the time to get involved. Join us early. Help us build something real. Help us create a campaign that cannot be ignored.

The road to 2028 starts today.

And together, we're going to make sure the voices of Iowa are heard loud and clear in Washington, D.C.
