Alright, I think it's about time I compile a thread on the NarraChara theory (specifically the one that assumes Chara narrates every line in the whole game) and why it bothers me that people take it as obvious canon.
@Goose67953615@balist2again@Fliwiya When?
Chara being inside Frisk's body doesn't confirm NarraChara, we already knew that Chara and Frisk are together the whole game.
@_gurusandhu_@BOMB__FUSE@fambramb It's a misdirection, but not "bait" or something that proves filenames aren't trustworthy. The filename is still accurate.
@Loganepeta@arrowtongue@gonergnostic Susie got the guitar, meaning Carol would be on her way (Kris has double Trucies with Knight and Carol so they know what they're doing), so the Knight had to prepare the fountain earlier since they would be booted out of the Holiday house earlier than anticipated.
@golblastscholar@ThayneCooney@ok_kicky Alphys and Sans are working together when it comes to the timeline anomaly, but when it comes to Sans's past and the knowledge of alternate universes, Alphys is largely left out (she only remarks on vaguely speculating about it).
@ReceiveandStab@lighterdarkstar This dialogue isn't about the Save/Load/Reset, this is about straight up deleting the world of Undertale and moving on to a new videogame.
@golblastscholar@ThayneCooney@ok_kicky I don't think we're getting a direct answer, because I don't think Deltarune is going to directly show us Undertale's world.
It's going to establish personal stakes for Sans and Papyrus, and from there we'd be left to infer that they're both trying and failing to fix the machine
@LemonMariii The prophecy panel is misleading, but it was never promised. The "Flower Man trapped in asylum" was the Flower itself all along, which was in that panel and whose motivations surrounded Asgore.
@ReceiveandStab@lighterdarkstar Yeah, Frisk's known power to....travel worlds?
Most of Chara's dialogue only makes sense in the context of them speaking to the Player, not Frisk. It's direct commentary on how you play videogames.
@CanonConstruct@ThayneCooney@ok_kicky Chapter 5 has been doing this already. We casually got the scene where Sans gets the drawing of 3 smiling people, and I can only imagine more content from the workshop is on the way.
@ThayneCooney@ok_kicky The machine is explicit Deltarune foreshadowing. It's strongly implied that both of the people in question have emotional stakes in the fixing of this machine. It's all skelebro content. Alphys is involved with the Undertale world's timeline research, but not this machine.
@JacquesPaught@LemonMariii Spare percentages still apply and are invisible in-game. If you press the spare button enough times, an enemy will become spareable, and there's no indicator for this.
The Jevil fakeout doesn't change, because his name still isn't blue when you check anyway.
@LaSillaDelCraft@DualityAscended The Chapter 1 "hint" is so stupid. It doesn't tell you where to find the egg room, it tells you where it teleports you after you leave it, which doesn't mean anything or help you whatsoever.
@StarkyTheSald What's interesting is that outside of the Genocide Route, the Player's presence is seemingly referred to as Chara.
It's often forgotten that Undertale's release had the same "mysterious voice beckons you to play the game" schtick Deltarune uses, but it was from Flowey to Chara.
@HaroldAngelG@StarkyTheSald No, what I'm saying is that on the Genocide Route specifically, Frisk's autonomy is taken away by Chara (they claim ownership of Frisk's body and actions).
Therefore, they can't be speaking to Frisk here. The mention of the soul is still in reference to the Player.
