"Is peaceful dissent now a crime at AMU?"

SIO AMU strongly denounces the despotic suspension of Yasir Fahad—an act of political retaliation executed the moment he announced a hunger strike demanding the restoration of the AMU Students’ Union (AMUSU).

People assume depression means you’re sad and crying all the time. Real depression feels like being stuck in a fog. You can’t think, you don’t respond to things, nothing is interesting, and you just feel empty. Not sad, just blank.

هذه المجموعة النادرة والاستثنائية من الصور -ومنها ما ينشر لأول مرة- كان يحتفظ بها قاض إيطالي يدعى "جوزيبي بيديندو" شارك في محاكمة المجاهدين الليبيين، وظلت الصور لأكثر من 100 سنة منسية بعيدا عن التداول، ويعود الفضل لإخراجها ودراستها ونشرها إلى باحثين إيطاليين مؤخرا

At the heart of this crisis is also the prolonged absence of the AMU Students’ Union. Without an elected representative body, students are left without a collective democratic platform to question authority and defend their rights.

SIO AMU organized a lecture by the prominent academician Prof. Irfan Ahmad from Ibn Haldun University, Turkey, on the topic of 'Rethinking Orientalism: In the Indian Context,' at AMU, last week.
The program was chaired by Prof. Asmer Beg, Dean of Social Sciences.

@NTA_Exams Despite repeatedly emailing for a change of my exam centre, I’ve once again been allotted the same centre in Kerala. I’m currently in Uttar Pradesh. This time, my centre must be changed to my preferred city in UP.

Still blows my mind how powerful Mexican passport is. Mexicans do not require any visa to enter 156 countries incl all 27 Schengen states, Japan (!) (180 days), all of Central & South America & Caribbean (ex. Cuba), most of SEA, Qatar & UAE, etc
Supposedly unsafe Cartel country.

So NTA says they are ready to retract error based questions and that typographical errors are absolutely ‘normal’. Changing Proper names of sociologists is normal, apparently students were supposed to guess the names.. Great then. We will file formal written complaint. We will see how many typographical proper name errors you are willing to drop. Also, wondering how will the results even be relevant if more than 40 questions are dropped? Can @NTA_Exams please wake up from their deep slumber?

@ugc_india @EduMinOfIndia

[Antara Chakrabarty | অন্তরা @ant_taraa]

The sheer audacity to say that it has not come across any issues and that the questions will be dropped if students challenge them. Okay. Challenging a single question takes Rs. 200. So first make sure a paper is made with 50% errors then expect the very students to pay and ask them to rectify? So this is how challenge works. We need to provide proof for each (wrong answer) error by providing a valid textual reference. Questions are dropped once in a blue moon when answers are wrong. How are students supposed to point out spelling errors, basic grammar errors and most important translation errors? So now students will pay for each question. (Close to approx 50 MCQs). As per NTA, if questions are dropped the challenge amount will be refunded. Now here is the funniest part. Most of the times the questions do not get dropped. Last Jan ‘26 two questions remained unchanged despite major error. What a profitable business model! You don’t need a subject expert to identity massive proof reading lapse of the papers. Does NTA not even have a committee for basic proof reading? How can a paper like this be passed ?? @NTA_Exams @ugc_india @EduMinOfIndia

Today'sUGC-NET Sociology paper raises serious questions about the academic standards of the NTA. A paper filled with spelling errors, arbitrary questions, and the omission of many foundational sociological thinkers in favor of content that appeared outside the prescribed syllabus

[Antara Chakrabarty | অন্তরা @ant_taraa]

Didn’t think I would have to reopen X after this long for something this pathetic. The recent NTA NET Sociology exam held on 30th June’26 crossed all limits of academic deceit and accountability. Not even getting started on the irregularity of the paper asking AI generated questions, random thinkers and books not even remotely associated with the syllabus provided. This is where the last nail on the coffin was comes. 50% of the paper had terrible spelling errors and grammatically disastrous sentence formation. Thinkers like ‘Ritzer’ was replaced as ‘Putzer’, ‘social’ was given as ‘oval’, ‘Parsons’ as ‘Parsow’, ‘Ghurye’ as ‘Ghunye’, A R Desai as ‘A K Desai’, ‘Nussbaum’ as ‘Nusbaut’ and many more. The Hindi translation of the questions were framed as if translated by a 5 year old. Students could not even understand the questions, let alone attempt them. Half the time went in literally making sense of what nonsense was scribbled in the name of a paper like NET which is literally supposed to make you eligible for Asst Prof/PhD admissions. Is this some joke? Call the profs who framed this paper to sit and attempt. @NTA_Exams how low are you guys willing to go to make Indian Higher Education drown? We cannot at any cost accept this paper. @EduMinOfIndia @ugc_india
