@PathfinderAstro@thearthouse33 It’s cognitive bias, especially confirmation bias, and the Barnum effect.
We notice the hits, ignore the misses, and interpret general descriptions as uniquely personal. Astrologers with decades invested are usually too deep in the sunk-cost fallacy to walk away. I get that.
@PathfinderAstro@thearthouse33 These professions don’t claim to predict anything.
Astrology does.
It’s based on ancient ideas people once used to give meaning to the mundane. But it’s been thoroughly debunked.
@thearthouse33 Who says 1 is the number of the sun? What about other stars?
The amount of arrogance we would need to believe Earth is special and all the other galaxies are for decoration, and only our solar system has numbers assigned to them. But pluto doesn’t because it was discovered later
@PathfinderAstro@thearthouse33 With all due respect, Peter wouldn’t have the same predictions about Trump because of bias.
Look at Nick Dagan Best, he said he’d be removed from office by May 2026.
The point is, interpretive things are as useful as lore.
If you can’t predict with 100% certainty, it’s cope.
@thearthouse33@PathfinderAstro Well i respect your opinion, but if there was an objective truth to these ideas, there wouldn’t be so many conflicting schools of thought, who define others as garbage.
If you use emotions and bias, it’s not the truth.
Truth is like gravity. Always works.
Not interpretive.
@thearthouse33 It’s useless(respecfully) just like a mythology of a video game, if you can always say free will is there, which is an abstract quality and can’t be measured but very easily used as excuse by numerology, and astrology.
@thearthouse33 It resonates because of human congnitive bias.
The abstract stuff about one number can be applied on everyone. They are human definitions, e.g. Leadership, freedom, adventure(5) emotions(moon -2) creativity(3) etc.
@thearthouse33 Well if we can use mental gymnastics like free will, to justify when predictions don’t work, it’s not reliable. Or say “ So many differing opinions on if we even have free will, btw. Chinese astrologers would call you wrong. Get it?
It’s just trying to make order out of chaos.
@thearthouse33 I did too, then i realised it’s nonsense. And please don’t mix religion with numerology. It’s blasphemy.
Earth is an insignicant rock. You, me, the USA, POTUS are all animals who want to believe in something.
Accept it, and become free. You’re in control. Not numbers.
@thearthouse33 Nonsense.
Numerology is nonsense too.
Uses Cognitive bias, looking at famous/ rich people to use as examples to try to cope.
Around 3-4 people are born every second.
The lives they have depend on which family they are in.
We’re insignificant animals on a rock.
Accept it
