This 22% interest rate has really exposed some interesting “opinions.”
Even people I thought would understand this have gone along with a rather biased view.
They all claim the government wants to steal money through NSSF. Yet they forget that the banks they save with and the insurance companies they invest with also buy government bonds and Treasury bills.
As of March 2026, commercial banks held about Shs23.181 trillion in government securities. Insurance companies held another Shs5.326 trillion.
Now imagine if the government’s plan really is to steal through government securities.
Just imagine that.
Let me watch soccer
Who can afford the housing on offer via most of the online listings in Greater Kampala?
I have built an interactive map that tracks this to parish level in the Greater Kampala area. Also tracks the 10-80% of income band.
The video shows an excerpt.

NSSF declares over 20% in interest & you think your "rolex guys makes more than office guy" jazz is going to move someone to leave their 400k government day time job that gives them allowances & huge cheap loans from the office SACCO while putting in 30% effort?
don't even get me started. countless times i would be paying the conductor and they would say "student tosasula ezo oja kuzilyamu ku ssomero" but nowadays abantu bakambwe.
