The Economist loves to lecture China on “erasing ethnic distinctiveness” from 5,000 miles away, while publishing from a country that spent centuries erasing entire continents.

A few reminders:
🇬🇧 The UK didn’t “squash 55 ethnicities,”
it simply erased them outright in Australia, North America, Africa, South Asia.
🇨🇳 China’s 56 ethnicities still exist,
still speak their languages,
still have regional autonomy,
still receive targeted cultural funding.
