I think two things are true:
I think the Colts asking price is too high for Jonathan Taylor.
I also think the Broncos wonโt be willing to pay that price AND they are thrilled about Jonah Coleman as their future.
Donโt hold your breath on Jonathan Taylor coming to Denver.
๐จ INJURY UPDATE ๐จ
Jaylen Waddle suffered an aggravation of his previous chest injury & his availability for the Chiefs game is TBD, per @RapSheet.
Lol Iโm not spinning it.
You have to make tough decisions when you pay your QB.
There are ways to make the salary cap work. But Nelsonโs contract will be record-breaking and youโre about to pay your QB. Plus the Broncos have shelled out a decent amount of contracts the past couple years. You canโt pay everyone.
Wouldnโt have been smart for the Broncos because of one big thing: The massive contract heโll get this offseason.
So it was a pipe dream to begin with.
Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.
But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.
@MileHighPost Iโd say as of right now you could consider waiting but that could change by the end of the year.
Unfortunately the trade deadline is coming up so you couldโve potentially risked shipping off that draft capital for just renting Nelson for the remainder of the season.
@MileHighPost You are correct that they donโt have to with two years of control remaining, but itโs become customary to pay your QB after Year 3.
Allen, Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert. All paid after Year 3. Itโs what you do.
Boโs contract will be a big one. If youโre cutting vets you believed in enough to run it back last offseason, who would you be replacing them with?
The Broncos also have some promise with their developmental OL pieces in Casey, Palcho & Crum.
Nelsonโs contract will likely be record-breaking. Too rich.
