It's kind of wild to me that people think George Paton doesn't make deals.
🏈He traded two 1st-round picks, two 2nd-round picks, a 5th-round pick & three players for Russell Wilson
🏈He traded a 1st & 2nd-round pick for Sean Payton
🏈Just seven months ago, he traded a 1st-round pick for Jaylen Waddle
Paton is not afraid to make moves.
@AllbrightNFL@J_M_G_M_ I’m not disputing that. Again, Paton HAS done a good job.
But if he doesn’t have the authority to go get a HOF LG, what are we actually doing? Why wouldn’t he want out?
@AllbrightNFL@J_M_G_M_ I say this respectfully as it’s not a shot at George, why sign him to an extension? If this is all on Sean, why keep George around?
Because if this roster fails, and let’s say it’s because of the LG, who falls on that sword? I’d bet it’s not Sean.
@J_M_G_M_@AllbrightNFL I’m tired of assuming that every time the GM doesn’t make a deal it isn’t his fault. George has done a good job but I’m a fan of the team first. Not George.
Say it, make it known that Payton didn’t want to make that move. Otherwise, it falls on the GM until proven otherwise.
@AnthonyRod33 This isn’t personal. Love you ARod.
But you said it wouldn’t have been smart. It absolutely would have been a smart move.
You keep saying contract. You can manipulate that deal. Bo would be on year 1 of the contract by the time Nelson would be on year 3. It was possible.
@AnthonyRod33 Again, they still could have afforded the contract. It would not have been a rental.
Move on from Sutton/Mcglinchey. Still have your full complement of draft capital to replace players.
While I love Court, he’s not back on that deal.
No way to spin this. Massive mistake.
@AnthonyRod33 Additionally if the line of thinking is the depth of the young OL talent, that’s more reason to move Crum or Palcho to RT and save that money as well.
@AnthonyRod33 Correct me if I’m wrong here but with the 5th year option picked up, the Broncos still have 2 seasons before paying Bo?
Aren’t most if not all contracts in the NFL 2 years and a team option?
With Moss and JFM comp picks, they actually get Nelson for the cost of the extension
@AnthonyRod33 They could. Easily.
Richest ownership group in sports that can manipulate the cap.
Also, look at the vets that will inevitably be cut. They had the draft capital and finances to get this done. Paton absolutely dropped the ball on this in a championship window.
George Paton couldn’t be bothered to give up a 3rd rounder for a HOF guard but will sacrifice a 1st rounder that won’t see meaningful snaps for 3 years…. Got it.
