@PappyTaughtMe @ukgolfguy He didn’t ‘walk off the course’. He picked up his ball on 11 but still played in and then went out and shot 72 in the afternoon. He effectively ‘tore up his card’ but didn’t ‘walk off’.

@USGAGrnSection Royal Melbourne, which has arguably the firmest and best greens in the world, does not use this process. They lift a green every ten years remove organic matter and then replace. They also hydroject every green once a month which is far less invasive. Refer Claude Crockford book.
