💡 At 10pm today, Brits are being asked to turn off all their power for just 10 minutes to protest the fuel crisis.
A similar campaign was run successfully in Spain last month.

Well it finally happened. The moment I knew was coming, married to a white guy in a beard. Today our toddler pointed at a painting of Jesus in the church where her nursery is located, and called it “Daddy”
@millihill@MidwivesRCM But this advice isn’t about cosleeping? It’s about patients having access to call buttons. Also, you’re correct that safety differences exist with breastfeeding - meaning the crucial point to highlight is the breastfeeding, not the sex of the parent. This is nonsense outrage 🙄
@SalagreNuriaEn1 @CenderGrit@millihill@MidwivesRCM Treating an individual with respect and following their wishes about their own care makes you feel unwell? What a strange position to adopt 🤔
@DanielZeichner this is Becky. She’s not on Twitter but she asked me to share this video with you. She’s written to you six times to ask you if you support our #MarchWithMidwives vigil this Sunday. This is an issue that affects 100% of your constituents. Are you with us?
A message of support for all the amazing midwives out there currently stretched beyond belief. The stats (below) are awful. 👶🏼👧🏾👩🏽⚕️🧑⚕️
I’m hoping to come and stand with you in Parliament Square this Sunday @midwivesmarch to demand acknowledgment and change!
#MarchWithMidwives
@DanielZeichner U.K. midwifery is buckling under the understaffing and underfunding that plague the whole NHS. On the 21st of November at 2pm a group of your constituents (myself included) will be holding a peaceful vigil on Parker’s Piece. Will you join us? #MarchWithMidwives
Maternity services in the U.K. are in absolute crisis, as I found out for myself all too well last summer. Midwives are amazing but they aren’t miracle workers - in an understaffed and underfunded system, balls get dropped. I was one of them 💔 #MarchWithMidwives
@allergyPhD Also people never tell you this but if you’re your child’s main sleep association, they’ll be more likely to sleep ANYWHERE. My 11mo has napped at a crowded swimming pool, in a pub, and through four hours in A&E because as long as she can curl up on me (slings) she’s golden 👍
@calebsaysthings This is just the great circle of things. The generation that mocked their parents as uncool grows up and is mocked as uncool. And one day those kids calling your jeans ugly is going to have some 17 year old calling out their flares or whatever, and thus it shall begin again 😃
This is SO important. Compliance is generally really high, except for self isolation. But how can we be surprised by this when SSP is £95/week and the government is consistently, egregiously failing to support and reward routing isolation for symptoms or contact
The government says the coronavirus rules are tough enough. The problem is compliance
I've been looking at the data and it says something quite different… sort of
A THREAD on what’s going on
Talk of imposing a one hour exercise rule, or being able to exercise with one person from another household, is just theatre. It's not about suppressing transmission - it's about keeping the focus away from the fact that what we're seeing is the result of failed policy.
@AkeemRonnie @rtjpoet @shayloks @kimarikenneth Antibiotics cannot help a viral infection because they do not kill viruses. Currently we don’t have a medicine that kills this virus, treatment is mostly focused on keeping your body going while your immune system itself fights off the infection (2/2)
@AkeemRonnie @rtjpoet @shayloks @kimarikenneth An “infection” is a generic term for when your body is taken over to some degree by a pathogen. That pathogen can be a bacteria, in which case antibiotics will help because they kill the bacteria. A viral infection like COVID-19 is caused by the SARS-COV-2 *virus* (1/2)
