Hello, I’m new to #booktwt and would love to make friends 🤍
Some of my favorite books are:
- Addicted/Calloway sisters series
- Corrupt
- The Song of Achilles
- Percy Jackson books
- Harry Potter series
- Off-Campus/Briar U books
- Shatter me series
- Arc of a Scythe trilogy
fangirling is so fun in this era because after finishing a series you can immediately dive into edits, theories, and fanfics like the story never really ends 😭
I won’t shut up about this, pancreatic cancer kills a person in 4 months btw, it’s resistant to radiotherapy, and fucks two essential parts of the metabolism. this could change the world
when I was a kid i used to think this was the best dystopian ya trilogy ever made. then i grew up and matured and realised that this is absolutely the best dystopian ya trilogy ever made.
what i’m getting from this 2016 throwback is that everyone used to be so fun, so carefree and so at ease. now everything is heavily curated and no one wants to be silly anymore. we need to bring that back.
one thing about cassandra clare is she knows how to keep an audience TUNED IN, for a series that started 19 years ago and has 21 books and STILL going to maintain readership and hype so well to the point she can casually earn $1 million doing a shadowhunters kickstarter… insane
i believe in re-reading and re-watching your favourite books & movies at different stages of your life.the plot never changes, but your perspective does.
the literacy crisis is so obvious when you’re scrolling through social media. genuinely concerning stuff. people can’t interpret texts, construct them, or identify unreliable narrators. everyone’s mad and people can’t understand each other or communicate why they’re angry.
No matter how we advance technologically, never abandon physical books. Never lose the feel of a book between your hands, the smell of the pages, the charm of the spine on your bookshelf, and the ability to really smack someone over the head with a hardcover.
btw in your 20's and 30’s you’ll start rediscovering the niche interests and hobbies you had as a kid. it’s very important you revisit them. your younger self was actually on to something.
“Why are folks getting dumber?” Because they don’t read. “Why aren’t men as romantic & poetic as they used to be?” Because they don’t read. “Why are people so vulnerable to propaganda?” “Why is everyone a conspiracy theorist?” Because they don’t read. Because they don’t read.
