HEXSTORM: Tears of Arcadia demo is now available for free on Steam.
It includes the first 6 missions.
This is the first, still very small step for the project, but I’m honestly nervous and excited to finally share it.

Made a fictional font for HEXSTORM.
It started as a lazy fix: ship diagrams on loading screens needed labels, but translating them into seven languages sounded painful.
So I made the people of Choral their own alphabet instead.

It might be one of the first @phaser_ 4 projects with this feature, maybe even the first.

Finally finished the new progression system for HEXSTORM: Tears of Arcadia.
Built a separate editor for it and connected it to my balancing autobot.
The bot plays the game, checks win rates, and automatically tweaks upgrade costs to target ~50% mission success.

— All key artworks were upgraded to 4K and refined

Solo dev means no beta testers.
So I built automated bots instead.
They run my levels thousands of hours a day and generate graphs to track difficulty spikes.

@alishi973 I try not to think too much about the final result. I just focus on the process and making things a little better each day.
One small improvement at a time. If you love the work, the “ugly phase” is just part of the fun.
32 rotation positions for one turret.
In HEXSTORM, enemies can approach from any angle —
so 8 directions weren’t enough. Even 16 felt cheap.
We ended up with 32 directional sprites to keep aiming smooth and readable.
