I was at Ghatkopar station on 17 April 2026 around 7:30 PM to travel to Bhandup. Both the 19:30 Kalyan local and 19:33 Thane local were overcrowded, making it impossible for persons with disabilities to even enter the coach. Even the disabled compartment was blocked by general passengers standing at the doors.

Despite informing RPF Ghatkopar to attend the train at Kanjurmarg, no action was taken. I also called Thane RPF twice, but the calls went unanswered. I had no option but to travel standing at the door under extremely unsafe and distressing conditions.

Ghatkopar has become a highly congested station due to Metro connectivity, making it extremely dangerous for disabled passengers. Authorities must ensure strict enforcement—deploy permanent security at key stations like Dadar, Kurla, Ghatkopar, and Thane, and prevent unauthorized passengers from occupying disabled coaches.

It must also be strictly enforced that no one is allowed to stand on the platform in front of the disabled coach area, as this blocks access and makes boarding impossible.

This issue has been raised repeatedly for 15 years, yet no improvement is seen. Immediate action is required to ensure safe travel for persons with disabilities, failing which stronger steps like chain pulling may be considered.
